Being a young mom has shaped my life ultimately, from learning to love this body that produced a miracle, to figuring out how to establish myself in life and give my little one the life I've always dreamed of, to simply understanding the ins and outs of motherhood as a 23-year-old adult. Whether it's fitness, being a mom, or loving to empower oneself, we both have those essential..

I cannot begin to tell you how long I’ve waited to have a family of my own so that I could live for times like this (cue Meek Mill “Dreams & Nightmares”). Our first family vacation and first trip of the year has finally come and besides the 1000 breaks we had to take because Ava hates her carseat and the five hour road trip that had us all cranky the entire car ride, we really had the time of the lives!
We chose Myrtle Beach, SC as our first destination of the year because who doesn’t want sand between their toes and to feel the warm beach breeze?? And ..read more

Listen, I’m a year ‘round soup kind of gal, but when the temperature drops, I can eat soup everyday of the week! It’s something about the warmness of the soup going down into my belly that sits well with my soul, HA! But seriously, there’s nothing better than being able to throw all of your ingredients into a crockpot before work and dinner being done and ready to serve once you walk through the door! I like to think of it as a form of self-care, because what better way to practice it than not slaving over a high stove all night? Hello, somebody! Well, let’s not waste anymore time! Let’s jump ..read more

Yup! I’m THAT mom! The one who wants to find any excuse to do something super cute for their child, and honestly I love that I’m that way! We’ve finally reached the milestone of Ava officially becoming potty trained and I for one am SUPER elated to have my baby out of those pull-ups (more so that we don’t have to buy them anymore, haha). But most importantly, I wanted to show Ava how important it is to celebrate yourself and to be around others that uplift you whenever you accomplish something, big OR small. We’ll get into the moral of the party at the end, but for now, let’s jump into all th ..read more

Mother’s Day is a few days away and I always struggle with what I want to gift the special women in my life and even what I want for myself! But what I’ve seen that has helped is first asking, “well, what kind of mother are they?” I mean we all know the different types. You have the mom that stays in the gym day in and day out, the one that loves to cook for everyone and gets MAJOR satisfaction watching her family fall in love with each meal, and lets not forget the mom who wants to grow the garden of Eden right in her backyard. I’m pretty sure every mom fits into at least ONE of these categor ..read more

I’m always racking my brain every Sunday with what am I going to cook and how am I going to make it stretch? That’s the million dollar question, what am I going to cook this week that’s not something we’ve ate a million and one times, and what can I cook that won’t have me in the kitchen the next night?! Here’s the secret to the code that I’ve seemed to have cracked, buying meat in bulk and being able to cook it in various way. My go to? Chicken breast! Today, I’m sharing with you three ways to cook chicken breast so that you won’t get tired of repeating the same old recipes and recipes that ..read more

I’m a firm believer in how you start your day is the way your day will go. You start off together and peaceful, your day will be together and peaceful. You start off all over the place and chaotic, well, I’m sure you know the rest. But what people don’t tell you is that it’s not just because of the way you start day, but the way you start your mind. When you wake up, what’s the first thing you do? If you’re like any other normal millennial, you grab your phone, scroll for an hour or so, and then rush to start your day because you laid down a minute too long. Sounds disorderly doesn’t it? Why ..read more

2 years. That’s how long it’s been since Monteo and I have actually been somewhere alone without Ava. Now I know what you’re thinking, “You haven’t been ANYWHERE by yourselves in two years?” And the answer to that question embarrassingly is yes. As a young couple, it hasn’t been financially feasible to travel somewhere and not take Ava with us because most of our trips are family outings. Plus, I’m a stickler for letting Ava go everywhere with us (blame it on the mom guilt). But this mini-vacation showed me how important it is to get away with your significant other, even if just for a day or ..read more

On Sunday while watching church live from the comforts of my couch, everything Bishop T.D. Jakes said was so personal to me. “GO GET IT!” That was what he kept saying repeatedly until it had you saying it to yourself over and over. “Go get it!” Each year we set resolutions or goals, hoping that if we say them enough out loud, or make a pretty vision board that they’ll manifest themselves into existence. That’s problem #1. Nothing worth having is going to magically fall into your lap. You have to grind. You have to put in the work. You have to be in position. You have to GO GET IT!

The weather is finally starting to get much more frosty outside, so that means it’s time to take the outdoor activities into the house! Ava loves the outdoors, so it really gets challenging when she wants to indulge in something creative, but its too cold for her to adventure outside. It was time for me to put on my “fun mom, not a regular mom” hat, and brainstorm some pretty cool projects that Ava could play with.
First things first, I wanted to use something that she could play with over and over and that meant something that wasn’t costly in case there’s any accidents and we have to start ..read more

I saw a quote somewhere that said anything you give a woman, she’ll multiply it. You give her a house, she’ll make a home, you give her groceries, she’ll make a meal, you give her a seed, she’ll give you children, and the list could go on and on. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized that we truly are the most hard-working creatures on this planet. That’s why mothers should be celebrated everyday, but especially on Mother’s Day. As a mom, we rarely take the time out to treat ourselves to self-care, but this Mother’s Day I’ve gathered a few gift ideas that would make it almost impo ..read more
