For years high-end labels have had their respective opulent ways with the fads that are happening in the mainstream (let’s take skateboarding, for example), but when it comes to the world of outdoor clothing and footwear, it’s more than just a trend. It feels permanent. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs57R1EtkD_/ The latest example of this ongoing fascination comes courtesy of Louis Vuitton, whose men’s footwear designer, J ..read more

How NewJeans & ‘Squid Game’ Informed Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2023

Visit the original post to see all 3 images from this gallery. If anything, it’s more surprising that it took Louis Vuitton until now to show a mainline womenswear collection in South Korea than it is to actually see Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2023 womenswear runway. The show itself is classic Nicolas Ghesquière, all sport-meets-chic with textural interplay and lots of patterns. Though the event itself was a testament to the unflappability of Louis Vuitton’s ready-to-wear line — Ghesquière is perhaps one of the most consistent designers in mainline luxury — it was perhaps most notable as the la ..read more

Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain Champions League dreams may have, yet again, fallen from grasp, but after a spectacular World Cup win at the tail-end of last year, the Argentinian captain remains on top of the world. Following an internet-breaking visual that saw Messi face off against fellow greatest of all-time contender Christiano Ronaldo in a game of chess, Louis Vuitton has once again called on the superstar baller to front its new travel campaign dubbed “‘Horizons Never End.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CrAoyCwNKT8/ I’m not one to buy into Twitter theories all too often, but with last year ..read more

The Jacobs Effect

Ana Andjelic, the author of this article, is the founder of The Sociology of Business. When Marc Jacobs joined Louis Vuitton in 1997, he was told that one things that he cannot touch was the logo. Obviously, he changed the logo. “Anti-snob snobbism” is Jacobs’ 2001 work with Stephen Sprouse. In it, Sprouse and Jacobs translated LV logo into the urban, street, countercultural aesthetic and did not just create something visually new. They launched a new model of the global brand building and turned fashion-art collaborations into the backbone of a brand’s relevance. louis vuitton ‘graffiti by ..read more

Another Massive Louis Vuitton x Kusama Collection Is Coming

Visit the original post to see all 5 images from this gallery. Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama dropped the biggest collaboration of the year back in January 2023 and they were only just getting started. In late March, the giant team-up returns with another massive drop. Remember that Louis Vuitton revealed in late 2022 that the collaboration comprised over 400 unique pieces so we probably only got a little over half of that with the first drop in January (though, who was counting?). This second round of LV x Kusama includes upwards of 200 items so safe to assume this is the final release, unti ..read more

Visit the original post to see all 3 images from this gallery. Louis Vuitton and the world of art have gone hand-in-hand for longer than any of us have been about, with its latest Yayoi Kusama collaboration just one recent shining example. In fact, fashion and art have been in cahoots since the beginning, with the two seamlessly overlapping to a point where it’s often hard to differentiate between the two. I’m essentially talking about couture. https://www.instagram.com/p/CpNmYxqN37X/ Yet when it comes to footwear things have always been a little more rigid, which is what makes LV’s new ‘Whit ..read more

From YSL to Schiaparelli, Brands Are Slaying Award Season

I’ve come to the realization that every annual award season is essentially a measuring stick for luxury brands to test run their definition of glamor at that particular moment. From January’s Golden Globes to March’s highly-coveted Academy Awards, the three-month spectacle is an opportunity for fashion’s finest to showcase its most opulent, red carpet-ready looks on some of the globe’s biggest names. https://www.instagram.com/p/CoTW0OTLw1L/ From the likes of Emma D’Arcy in Acne Studios and Seth Rogen sporting an all-pink Dior suit, to the shock of anything worn by Lizzo or Blac Chyna, annual ..read more

Dear Louis Vuitton, Why Pharrell?

Pharrell and Louis Vuitton. Two household names that sound good together, especially with the confirmation of Pharrell as Louis Vuitton’s new men’s creative director on February 14, Valentine’s Day. Was it love at first sight? Probably. I mean, who doesn’t love Pharrell? I love him, you love him, we all love him. Like any good relationship, though, each partner’s gotta get something out of this and that’s where I start having questions. Is Pharrell, Louis Vuitton’s first creative director since Virgil Abloh’s passing, really a fit for LVMH’s flagship house? Let’s start with the good. And ther ..read more

According to “people familiar with the matter,” Pharrell Williams is currently “in talks” with Louis Vuitton to take over the late Virgil Abloh’s role as overseer of menswear. The news has not yet been acknowledged by either Pharrell or Louis Vuitton but it was reported to be confirmed on February 14 by longstanding French newspaper Le Figaro. Pharrell would be Louis Vuitton’s first permanent head of menswear since Abloh passed in late 2021. The exact title that Pharrell would take at Louis Vuitton is unclear but Abloh was the luxury label’s “artistic director” of menswear and Pharrell, if he ..read more

Louis Vuitton’s $2,310 Fortune Cookie Bag Comes With a Message Inside

You wear what you eat, or however, the old saying goes. The latest in wearable eats — but please don’t eat – emerges as Louis Vuitton’s Fortune Cookie bag, which is exactly how it sounds: a handbag shaped like a giant fortune cookie. First teased during the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 presentation, Louis Vuitton’s Fortune Cookie bag surfaces with calf leather construction topped with LV’s beloved monogram faintly sprawled across the exterior. Complete with a removable wristlet and silver hardware, the LV handbag also is packaged wrapped in a playfully-designed plastic wrap, whic ..read more
