A new lease to keep HMP Dartmoor open “beyond 2023 and for the foreseeable future” is due to be signed in 2022. The landmark was due to close in 2023 but talks are now in the mix to keep the prison open from 2023 and for the foreseeable future. The prison was originally built back in 1806 to hold French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic Wars. Now it is classed as a Category C Prison for prisoners who are not expected to make a determined escape attempt – and currently holds 640 prisoners. Gartree Prison Expansion Plans Moving Closer

The new Prison Programme has now moved one huge step closer to beginning it was announced yesterday The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has announced. The Minister of State for Prisons and Probation Alex Chalk stated that the plans for the expansion next to Gartree Prison near Harborough Market propose for a new Category B Training prison next to HMP Gartree. Gartree is also a Category B Training prison. Their proposals are to build a 1,715-place prison with seven prison blocks holding around 240 male prisoners each, as well as ancillary buildings. HMP Hull has started their very own TV show, with the prisoners as the stars broadcasting from their cells. The prison has given inmates the chance to shine by giving them their big TV break by allowing them to broadcast their own show and learn media skills to appear in television shows to entertain their fellow prisoners. HMP Liverpool Watchdog Arrested

A member of the Watchdog team for HMP Liverpool has been arrested over a Drugs Probe recently news has revealed. The member who monitors conditions at HMP Liverpool has been suspended after allegedly delivering drugs and a mobile phone to a prisoner within the grounds, it was suspected this was done 6 weeks ago, however has not been charged. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) confirmed a member of the prison’s Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) had been “suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing police investigation”.
