You don’t always have to delve too deep into the history books to find extraordinary Bourbon tales. Our latest collection of tales are about just a small sample size of those which have been released within the last decade. Buffalo Trace CYPB “Give us the bourbon we want”, they all cried. “When do we want it?.... Now!” they all cried. Which distillery would listen to these cries? Well, of course, it had to be Buffalo Trace. In the autumn of 2015, Buffalo Trace created an interactive website page allowing users to choose their preferences in terms of mash bill, barrel charring level, warehouse ..read more

Back by popular demand we bring you more exciting tales from the bourbon world....  Larceny The tale surrounding this bourbon is with the actual naming of it. Heaven Hill acquired the Old Fitzgerald franchise in 1999 and released this wheated bourbon in ‘honour’ of John E Fitzgerald. According to legend, Mr Fitzgerald built the distillery and sold his bourbon to local establishments. Now here is the twist - in the family biography of Pappy Van Winkle written by his granddaughter Sally Van Winkle Campbell, it is revealed that Fitzgerald was not the character he was purported to be. He was ..read more

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the main event. It is with great pleasure (and a small amount of physical effort, when you end up arm-wrestling over positions 4 and 5) that we present to you our Top 10 Bottled in Bond Whiskeys. As you can imagine, this was yet again another Top 10 which took a considerable amount of time to nail down to the final ten, never mind the arduous task of deciding on places. We’ve had a heap of people reaching out to us asking for this particular list and as the trusted guardians of the self-titled home of bourbon online, we’ve listened. Or maybe it was just because ..read more

Top 10: Bourbons Under £50
Bourbon Gents

A long time ago at Bourbon Gents HQ, the Gents had the idea to list the top ten bourbons that 50 English pounds (or whatever the equivalent outside of our tiny island) could buy you. So we set out to craft this list and share our thoughts on the best ones to pick up at a reasonable budget. When it was done, we pressed publish and then never really thought about it again. Fast forward 3 years and our loyal readers are making that polite coughing sound to quietly alert us to the fact that, unless they have a time travel machine, our list may be slightly useless in today’s market. The biggest exa ..read more

Bourbon Gents

World Cup Final Wrap Up The Bourbon Gents World Cup 2021 is over, and we have our winner. 3 weeks ago, we started with 64 bourbons, all with a chance to lift the trophy. Some fell early, some hung on longer than expected, and some seemed unbeatable, but in the end only one can remain… The Final Pappy Van Winkle 20-year-old was drawn as the home team, which meant William Larue Weller got the dodgy away dressing room with the broken heating and blocked toilets. Unlucky, but maybe it would give them that extra motivation to win heading into the match. Just like last year’s final, it was one ..read more
