Philadelphia Owes Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Absolutely Nothing!

Prior to the start of the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles season, Howie Roseman made a splash. As the team was trimming the roster to get to the 53-man requirement, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was acquired from the New Orleans Saints. It took only the Eagles’ 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick for a promising young talent at the safety position. Gardner-Johnson, 24 at the time, would have a promising season in the Eagles’ secondary. He recorded a sack, six interceptions, and 61 tackles, a step up from his recent production at safety for Philadelphia. He played 11 games before suffering a ..read more

The next Philadelphia team to win a championship will be…
Iggles News
by Chuck Bausman

The question is intriguing: Who will be the next Philadelphia team to win a championship? The Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Sixers are all in the hunt. My answer is based on a simple notion: Which team is closest right now? In Philadelphia, we stand at a rare moment in our gloomy sport’s history. We have three teams capable of winning a ring and marching down Broad Street. Capable is relative, of course, but two of our teams just went to the championship round. They lost — this is Philadelphia, after all — but the Eagles and Phillies are poised to make another ser ..read more

Jason Kelce, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson: The Mighty Men of the Eagles
Iggles News
by Chuck Bausman

They have been here forever, the four Mighty Men of the Eagles. They have played 654 NFL games, all with the Eagles. They are legends in Philadelphia — not easy to do — and respected around the NFL.  They played hurt. They played when they were physically ground down, and mentally worn down. They tightened their chin straps, rolled up their sleeves and marched forward. They were leaders on the field and off. Their teammates try to emulate them. The coaches expected more from them and still do. They have seen plenty. Going from Andy Reid to Chip Kelly showed them the rest. They won a Super ..read more

Future of the Eagles: Trying to build the NFL’s next dynasty
Iggles News
by Chuck Bausman

It’s a lot easier talking about building an NFL dynasty than actually doing so. Every team wants it; few achieve it. In Eagles general manager Howie Roseman’s mind, that’s the goal. He wants to compete for the Lombardi Trophy every year. After surviving the transfer portal called free agency, the Eagles have fundamental pieces in place for a possible return to the Super Bowl. But there are personnel challenges. Major ones. The Eagles lost 10 free agents — five defensive starters, two offensive starters and three reserves. It could have been worse. They retained five starters and signed six new ..read more

Is a Rodney McLeod reunion in Philadelphia likely?

by Alicia Andaloro

After six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodney McLeod is discussing what it would be like to return. And according to the safety, it would be a positive one. A POSSIBLE ENDING WITH THE EAGLES Rodney McLeod’s stint with the Eagles began in 2016. Leaving the St. Louis Rams as a free agent, the safety received multiple offers, eventually scoring a $35 million contract. Joining Philadelphia, McLeod along with Malcolm Jenkins became the highest-paid safety duo in the league. Despite never being selected for the Pro Bowl, he remained consistent throughout his time with the Eagles. In 2018, M ..read more

Lane Johnson’s reported contract extension could prolong his playing career
Iggles News

Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, who said he wants to play only two more years, received a one-year contract extension that would carry him through the 2026 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That would be four seasons from now, now two. Johnson was under contract through 2025. The reported deal is for $33.445 million for the extra year with $30 million guaranteed. Will this guaranteed money keep Johnson on the field longer than he anticipated? For the level of Johnson’s play, that is excellent news for the Eagles. Johnson is 32 years old. He was named first-team All-Pro this past sea ..read more

Eagles confident in Jalen Hurts while other teams scramble to find a quality quarterback
Iggles News

Quarterback is the most important position in football, or any sport. I think you agree. Hockey goalies are up there, say the hockey fans. I agree: They are up there, probably the second-most important position in sports. The quarterback decides to run the play as called or he audibles depending on what the defense is showing him. He has to make sure each handoff is precise. On a passing play, he has to scan the field for an open receiver. If the receiver isn’t open on the play-call, he needs to look for an alternative receiver. If the receiver is covered, he makes a snap judgment whether he c ..read more

Ezekiel Elliott has Eagles as one of three preferred landing spots
Iggles News
by Drew Rhoades

With their recent run of success, the Eagles have become a premier destination for most players, and it appears they’ve caught the eye of an old rival. On Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Ezekiel Elliott, who was released by the Cowboys listed week, had the Eagles, Jets, and Bengals as his preferred destinations. Schefter’s tweet initially made it seem like the Eagles had contacted Elliott and were in ongoing talks with him. However, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark later reported that the Eagles had no discussions with the 27-year-old, and that the team is “happy with the runn ..read more

Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest mock draft has Eagles building up both lines
Iggles News
by Chuck Bausman

Mel Kiper Jr. has become the gold standard of NFL mock drafts. He’s the guy who invented the mock draft, his ESPN colleagues proclaim. Much like Joe Lunardi and his ESPN Bracketology — who this year missed only one of the 68 NCAA Tournament teams — Kiper’s mock drafts are must-reads for NFL fans. Unexpected trades quickly make mincemeat out of mock drafts. Quarterback-needy teams and teams that lock in on a specific player make trades that rips a hole in the best of mock drafts. Like Kiper or not, fans want to know what he thinks. Kiper has built a draft empire for himself. He started on ESPN ..read more

Memo to Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman: Don’t draft star running back Bijan Robinson
Iggles News
by Chuck Bausman

Maybe it’s just due diligence. Maybe it’s being a little greedy. Maybe it’s getting caught up in the potential fireworks he would bring to the Eagles’ offense. Maybe it’s because the Eagles think the Cowboys are interested. Whatever, but Texas running back Bijan Robinson was in Philadelphia on Monday night for a pre-draft meeting with the Eagles. In fact, Robinson posted a photo on Instagram showing an airplane in a landing pattern over the Linc. All NFL teams bring in potential draft choices. It’s common practice. Chatting up Robinson is one thing. Getting to know him? Fine. Drafting him? No ..read more
