After a joyous reunion with everyone at DreamHack, things have been on pause for the past month. Without any MenuPogs to never win, it all feels empty. Luckily for us, Split 2 of the LCO kicked off last night with Vertex’s League of Legends debut against reigning champions The Chiefs. The back-to-back champs showed no signs of slowing down against the newbies, finding two dominant victories in the first series before Vertex could find their footing. Last split’s second and third teams–Team Bliss and the Dire Wolves respectively–took the spotlight after that. For the Dire Wolves, it was their f ..read more

Although the Howling Abyss would be more fitting for the new Wolfpack, Vertex will commence their maiden voyage into the Summoner’s Rift on Monday. The removal of Peace during the last split allowed the org to acquire their slot shortly after DreamHack. With a decorated history of FPS teams, they’re looking to do the same with League of Legends. “Our first point of call was that we wanted to find a coach as we thought that we could build the roster around that foundation,” Vertex Operations Manager, Lachie “Charisma” Hughes told Snowball Esports. “They could have a read on where the scene is a ..read more

Vertex ESC has been inducted into the LCO for Split 2 in the slot formerly occupied by Peace. The org’s stamp on the Oceanic scene dates back to 2018—since then, they’ve dipped their toes into Call of Duty, Rocket League, and most notably, CS:GO. After building their identity in the FPS genre for so long, their next foray will be into League of Legends. The slot acquisition was announced earlier this evening, but at this stage information surrounding the organisation’s playing roster is to be determined. History repeated itself in the Split 1 2023 LCO Finals on Saturday night as The Chiefs became the first team to be crowned back-to-back champions since the league’s inauguration.  The fourth and final game of the series saw the opposing Team Bliss knocking on the door of The Chiefs’ base.  With a threatened Nexus it was series MVP Brandon “BioPanther” Alexander against the world. One clutch knock-up from his Ornn bought enough time for the remainder of his team to respawn; rallying around their top laner, they were able to shut down the attempt, march to the other side of the Rift, a ..read more

After a seven-week break and a trip to Taiwan for the PCS playoffs, the LCO returns today to conclude its first split for 2023.  With the grand final no longer tied to qualification for international tournaments like the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational, this game has more or less become a battle of pride and bragging rights. With this split, the bragging rights have become more important, as the grand final will also act as the decider for the league’s new hottest rivalry: the Battle of Queensland. The winner will be determined between The Chiefs, who are defending their title, and the d ..read more
