Questions You Should Be Asking Your Recruiter

When starting out as a traveler, we recommend reaching out to multiple recruiters from various companies. This is not only to find a recruiter you mesh well with, but also to see which company offers what you’re looking for. Most travel companies offer many of the same things, however, there are small discrepancies between each. This is why we recommend having a list of questions and taking down notes of what each company has to offer then comparing them to see what works best for you. Below are some our of questions that we recommend asking and are based on our experiences as traveler ..read more

6 Years As a Traveling Therapist; Here Are My Thoughts
Road Tripping PT Blog

I did a similar post to this a while back while working in Maine in 2020. This was after a few years of travel and it struck me again that it would be good to sit down and express some thoughts on our experience as travelers since we just passed the 6 year mark. (Click here if you want to read part 1 of this post) Over six years ago, Kari and I took off on what we thought would be one great adventure to Alaska, and we were terrified. I find it hard to truly express the sense of how it felt back then, but it’s the feeling you get during a new experience where everything is exciting, but terrify ..read more

It’s 5am and I can’t sleep. The sun is peeking through the curtains of our cottage for the weekend in Castine Maine. It’s cool inside but comfortable, and I love the smell of pine and salt water. I have one of those “pinch me” moments as I let Spencer (our 8 pound yorkie) out to the screened porch and enjoy the view of the ocean realizing again, this is why we chose travel therapy. The View From Castine Cottages Having grown up and spent all our lives in CA, there were times I dreamed about a cross county road trip to Maine. Or maybe visiting Texas and hearing a southern accent, specif ..read more

8 beautiful waterfalls a weekend full of memories  The What: Clear a weekend to drive through the beautiful countryside of Maine. In just 2 days, and what we would consider minimal hiking, you can explore 8 different waterfalls. Some are easy roadside stops where you can view the falls while taking out your fishing pole, while others require a 1-2 mile hike to view their grandeur. You can be selective with your choices if you are limited on time, however if you follow the order we have listed, you will be able to see all with minimal backtracking. We also don't want to take cr ..read more

Paying Off $186,000 In Student Loans

$186,000.  That’s the number of just my (Tyler) student loans.  I still wonder, if school was only supposed to cost $90,000 (estimated on their website), how did I get here?  Additional cost for books? Housing? Honestly, at this point, I’m not even sure, but the sight of this loan upon graduation was more than I had ever made, owed, or even thought about until finishing PT school.  And the scary part? Kari owes nearly an identical amount…It’s safe to say we were in debt.  At the time of writing this, this month, March 7th, 2022, is my last payment. I began worki ..read more

Working in San Francisco How many interviews have you had as a professional? Maybe you have had some experience prior to school or it could be completely new.  Either way, travel therapy interviews can be slightly different than your typical permanent job.  Having accepted and nearly completed 10 assignments each, we have been through a minimum of 20 interviews.  While we have felt successful with our interview skills, we wanted to share our experience on the interview process as a traveler in hopes that it will help you in landing your next job. So what’s the process?  As ..read more

This challenging, but rewarding hike is one of our new favorites in Yosemite.  One of the parks most popular, and now requiring a permit for the final section, it offers beautiful views while ascending through Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls. But our favorite part of the hike was the cable section during the final ascent up the side of Half Dome and the beautiful views of Yosemite from the top.  We completed this hike for the first time on 8/15/21 with our friends Tyra and Caesar and are so happy to have such great memories to share with them. Planning to hike Half dome?  Here is ..read more
