October 25 2021 A lazy morning with no need to rush. Laundry and boat cleaning done we departed Hamilton Island to begin the trip South. The wind was a light Northerly which slowly built and gave us a good run down to our first stop at Keswick Island. Lots of controversy going on here with Chinese lease holders making access and life in general difficult for private property owners on the Islands. We enjoyed a brief walk ashore on the beach before retiring for the night. Tuesday October 26 The weather hadn’t read the forecast today so we ended up motorsailing most of the way over choppy, boun ..read more

Wednesday November 3 We are at Rosslyn Bay Marina sitting out a week of strong South Easterlies that have interrupted our slow meander back down south. Since our last post the weather improved dramatically, we have caught up with old friends, made some more new ones and had enjoyed friends and family on board. We have been pretty busy time moving all around the Whitsundays as the inclination and weather dictated as shown by the black lines of our tracks in the photo below We had 2 fabulous trips out east to the outer reef areas as well. Here is a summary of the highlights. Saturday September ..read more

Its September 10 today and we have been in the Whitsundays for nearly a month. In summary the weather is shit, the snorkelling is shit, the coral is shit, the fishing is shit, the water temp is too cold, walks are good, the people are fantastic and Lightwave’s rule. Wednesday August 11 Strong winds and rain overnight made a morning bike ride very unattractive. With a slight hangover we prepared the boat for departure and said our goodbyes. Kerry and Sue were going out on Trick Shot tomorrow for sail training and we hope to continue their lessons over the coming weeks. It has been a great stay ..read more

Friday July 30 An 0700 start to give us just enough light to exit Lady Musgrave atoll. Boss Nova led the way following their previous track. We were close behind. Destination Great Keppel Island 97Nm NNW of us. The forecast was for SE 15-20 easing to 10-15 in the evening. We elected for single reef main and screecher and were soon pulling ahead of Bossa Nova who was carrying full main but no screecher.  Neville wasn’t having that so he and Amanda, popped the spinnaker, soon caught up and passed us. We expected the wind to veer more behind us so we stopped, put the main away and got our s ..read more

Thursday July 29 Day 4 at Lady Musgrave. More beautiful calm, sunny weather yesterday. A bit more breeze from the north this morning but hopefully we have another calm afternoon. Looking good for a departure tomorrow with southerly winds behind us although I suspect we will be in for a worse night than the forecast would indicate. Back to our arrival at Mooloolaba. Sunday July 4 So we hadn’t checked the swell forecast prior to leaving Moreton Bay and now we were confronted by 2-3m combers rising up and breaking right across the Mooloolah River Bar. The waves then reformed on the west side and ..read more

Tuesday 27th July Day 3 of our stay at Lady Musgrave Lagoon. Snorkelling, great weather and new friends. All good. I will continue, however, as I am determined to get this blog up to date. So back to our night passage from Lake Macquarie to Port Macquarie. Monday June 14 We had a lovely easy night sail. We did consider pulling into Esmerelda Cove, Broughton Island but conditions were too good so we continued on. The breeze dropped to 8-15 and we had a comfortable passage although still heavily rugged up. Temperature was 15 degrees and dry, a big improvement on Tasmania. It was a beautiful dawn ..read more

Wednesday 28 July Day 2 at Lady Musgrave Lagoon. Much calmer today and Lea is looking forward to some snorkelling. A quick swim 2 days ago, to check the anchor set, was enough for me to access the water temp as too damn cold. So its back to catching up on the blog. So back to Bittangabee Bay after our crossing of Bass Strait. Wednesday May 19 It was a nice calm night and we both slept like the dead. A heavy dew and 20 litres of fresh water went a long way to removing the salt accumulation from the decks. The port water tank was empty so we took the opportunity to take the top off and clean it ..read more

26/07/2021 Lady Musgrave Lagoon Well I’m 3 months behind in the blog but life is busy and we don’t seem to get much quiet time. Mind you I have been immersed in Stephen Donaldson’s “The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant” which contains 12 large volumes. I read the first 6 volumes back in the early 80’s and enjoyed reading the whole thing again. So here we are anchored at Lady Musgrave Lagoon after a lovely day of sail changes yesterday from spinnaker to start with then to full main and screecher after a 0445 start from Bundaberg. Once the washing machine sea state settled it was a lovely sail and ..read more

Saturday July 3. Sitting in Horseshoe Bay off Peel Island in Morton Bay Queensland. Its pouring rain (hence the inspiration to continue the blog) and its still too damn cold. We had a successful day on the beach yesterday where we and a sister ship beached the boats for a check and hull scrub. Not a barnacle to be found after 7 months, just a bit of carpet like slime that brushed off easily. Antifoul is holding up well but once again International Trilux 33 on the props has disappointed. We have had a great few days with our new friends Colin and Tracey off our sister ship Its Just Us Two. It ..read more
