REVIEW | Q-Unique – Royal Blood
Raw Side Hip Hop
by Brutus Maximus
1w ago
‘Royal Blood‘ is the latest offering from Q-Unique and it’s one hell of a hip hop project. Q’s fifth solo album is a seven track heat rock, solely produced by Jake Palumbo and without a single feature. Q holds down a true solo project spitting as aggressively as he always does, while DJ Presto One brings his skills on the wheels to make the samples and scratches sing. It may only clock in around 20 odd minutes, but in the modern musical landscape, this is where it needs to be. And this is a prime example of quality over quantity. From the jump we get treated to some really dope boom bap produ ..read more

BANGER | Donson the Wise – ‘The Weatherman’ (prod. FiveEight Fever)
Raw Side Hip Hop
by Brutus Maximus

Donson the Wise teams up with FiveEight Fever to deliver this anthem ‘The Weatherman‘. The score is suitably grimy, plenty of menacing undertones infiltrating the speakers, while Don gets busy on the mic with his gruff and rugged flow riding the beat perfectly, speaking his nefarious tales. So many elements of this track are done well, so it’s hard to pinpoint just what draws you in, but whatever catches your ear, there is no doubt this one is going to be in your rotation for a minute! Check out the joint below and get ready for the gritty, grimy ride ..read more

REVIEW | Eddie Kaine x Big Ghost Ltd – ‘Last Exit To Crooklyn’
Raw Side Hip Hop
by Brutus Maximus
2w ago
Eddie Kaine is back with a mature, authentic hip hop record in the form of the Big Ghost Ltd produced ‘Last Exit To Crooklyn‘. This is the 6th full length project from the Brooklyn emcee, who has been on the radar of hip hop head for the better part of the last decade, and this joint is a return to the formula that made ‘A Tree Grows In Brooklyn‘ such a successful debut. Big Ghost Ltd mixes things up a bit on the soundtrack, keeping that boom bap undertone, but dispersing a range of soul, jazz and minimalist music throughout the dusty drum tracks. Eddie is right back in the pocket, with intro ..read more

NEW | GUTTR (Ras Kass x RJ Payne x Havoc) – ‘Roll Call’ feat. Method Man & Fame
Raw Side Hip Hop
by Brutus Maximus
2w ago
GUTTR is the newly formed, hip hop supergroup featuring Havoc (Mobb Deep), RJ Payne and Ras Kass. And if that wasn’t nasty enough, they have enlisted Method Man and Lil Fame (MOP) for their debut BANGER ‘Roll Call‘. Havoc handles the production and makes this track super sinister with those trademark hi-hats, but then it’s over to these hardbody bars from Payne and Fame and the incredibly well crafted rhymes from Meth and Ras Kass. This track is pure arson as each emcee just bodies the beat with their unique lyrical infernos. Check out the official video below with some cameos you may know ..read more

Is this track big enough for two hip hop heavyweights to rip the microphone? RJ Payne and JR Writer team up to deliver ‘JR Meets RJ‘ and this track is premium hip hop at its finest, as they combine to body the beat and leave speakers smoking! C-Lance serves up a perfectly robust, boom bap production which allows the two titanic emcees to get busy bullying the mic with their flow. This joint is crazy and needs to be in heavy rotation. HEAT | Kount Fif – ‘The Hashira’ feat. Chino XL, Copywrite & DJ Hoppa
Raw Side Hip Hop

‘The Hashira‘ is the first single off ‘Ascension‘, Kount Fif’s new album on Man Bites Dog Records. Now, this joint isn’t for the faint of heart, because you have a really menacing soundscape that is designed with the purpose of being dominated verbally from some insanely lyrical emcees. Delivering raw, gritty and downright filthy vernacular, ‘The Hashira’ is a track that you just can’t shy away from with the rapid fire flow slicing through the speakers and punches you in the throat! But don’t take my word for it – strap in and get to listening yourself. It’s a bully rap bar fest ..read more

Raw Side Hip Hop
by Brutus Maximus

It may have taken four long years to get new music from Savageland, but they have certainly made sure it was worth the wait as they deliver ‘War Calls‘ from their upcoming sequel project ‘Savageland II‘. Consisting of legendary penmen Weapon E.S.P. and Ghost of the Machine, and with the production genius of Reckonize Real, Savageland are a top tier hip hop outfit – and ‘War Calls‘ once again cements their position as they drop verbal bombs on listeners. This dusty, boom bap soundscape is the perfect score for these rugged, edgy bars – and the flip at the end has us wanting more. Weapon and Gh ..read more
