We love a debut track here on RIDE and this has to be one of the hardest debut singles we’ve heard in a long time. Fresh Out Of Portland by Yayo.upt is a total banger. Inspired by deeply personal themes. The song came to fruition whilst Yayo was serving an 8-year sentence in a prison appropriately named ‘Portland,’ following a drug related run-in with the law and a 3-month period on the run with no support from family or friends, struggling to survive on the brutal streets. Portland proved to be the toughest challenge of Yayo’s life as he was estranged from his family and friends who all live ..read more

We love a debut single here on RIDE and Nigerian spitter Sammy Smack is the latest artist to catch our attention with his brand new track Coast to Coast. This incredibly high-energy Afrobeat infused Drill track was created alongside his mom/manager, and then recorded in Rockville, Maryland. It was his mom that encourage him to add the Igbo (a Nigerian language) hook. It really encapsulates the track and Sammy’s pride when it comes to his heritage and how he’s living life now. “My life is a movie I’m the star and you upset, Young destined for greatness I think that’s why they upset ..read more

Single Review: “Riding” – Faraoh

South London spitter Faraoh is a fast rising talent in the UK drill scene and his latest track Riding is without doubt one of his best releases to-date! Taking inspiration from the likes of Knucks and Nemzzz, this ‘chill drill’ style track is a well polished cut that you can’t help but vibe to. With its ethereal, winding piano riff and hard-hitting drum patterns, this track takes the best part of drill and mixes it with chill hip-hop to create something totally fresh. Faraoh’s flow is smooth and mesmerising as he rides the beat – no pun intended – with an absolute finesse. Faraoh is witho ..read more

Album Review: ‘Less Is More’ – Martian B2A

Erupting onto the U.K. hip-hop scene following a short hiatus from music, Martian B2A is back with his highly anticipated debut album Less is More – 10 hard hitting tracks filled with cold bars and mesmerising flows. The album had an impressively quick writing and recording process, taking just four months to complete; the wheels were set in motion when Martian B2A found the ideal beat on YouTube and reached out to the producer, Trinz, to buy the lease to the instrumental. From this, Martian B2A created the emphatic track Go Time, and the rest of the alb ..read more

Single Review: “Nightmare 169” – L-Zee Roselli

I hope you don’t scare easily, because UK spitter L-Zee Roselli is back with frightening hard new track Nightmare 169. Horrorcore is one of those unique sides of rap that we don’t often see anymore. It feels like all the best horrorcore artists came and went in the 90s, leaving an incredible impact on rap as a whole and influencing the likes of Eminem, $uicideBoy$ and even Tyler The Creator in the years after. What’s even rarer than modern horrorcore rap, is British horrorcore! I wasn’t even sure this existed before hearing this new cut from L-Zee Roselli. This man might be single handedly re ..read more

Single Review: “Helpline (1-800)” – Mykez 2Nation

Southampton spitter Mykez 2Nation is back with another laidback banger just in time for the summer with “Helpline (1-800)”. We’ve been following Mykez’ career for a few years now and he’s been consistently making noise with cold tracks that always make their way into our playlists. “Helpline (1-800)” could be one of our favourite cuts Mykez has dropped to date. It has a real old school flavour that hits hard whilst giving out some real mellow vibes. You can imagine jumping on plane to some sun-soaked country and partying out by the pool with this track as your soundtrack. It’s just got that g ..read more
