Introduction
Well-planned vegan diets are suitable for every stage of life, including infancy and childhood, which is a message that is supported by The British Dietetic Association. Just like every dietary pattern, nutritional planning is important to ensure our little ones get everything they need to support growth and development. Here are some key considerations for plant-based little humans.

Vegan Society Volunteer, Zuleka Waldman, shares her experience of going vegan in Zimbabwe
I made the mistake of deciding to stop eating meat right before Christmas. I was basically walking myself into temptation city because in Zimbabwe, Christmas is meat. Christmas is about the many different types of meat you can fit on a plate. With lots of different salads drenched in mayonnaise. It's grandly known as 7 Colours and is basically a rainbow of food on a plate, with the staples being rice, chicken and salad, and dessert always having custard, jelly and cake. The wo ..read more

Activist Peggy Oki on following her passions and taking action for dolphins and whales
Peggy Oki is a legend in the skateboarding world. At 18 and as the only female member of the Zephyr competition team, she won first place in women’s freestyle and in 2012 she was inducted into the skateboarding hall of fame. But it wasn’t her skateboarding success that brought her to my attention – it was her 2016 Ted Talk about creating art as activism for dolphins and whales.

Vegan Society Dietitian, Andrea Rymer, explores the benefits of raising children vegan
Well-planned vegan diets are suitable for all stages of life, and children can get all the nutrients they need from them. Luckily, in my role as a dietitian for The Vegan Society, I’m in a fortunate position to absorb this knowledge and put this into practice with raising my son. Had I not been in this field, negative media headlines around raising a vegan family may have led me to second guess my decision. After recently coming back from maternity leave, this topic is more important ..read more

National dishes CAN be vegan, and many of them certainly are, but let’s take things an insightful step further for Black History Month and explore the African origins of some of our favourite traditional plant-based foods.
Did you know that horchata, the delicious milky Latin beverage, has ties to North Africa? The main ingredient in horchata de chufa, tiger nuts, is a North African staple. It was introduced to Spain by the Moors who ruled the Iberian Peninsula from the 8th to 15th century. Spanish colonisation then further brought it to Latin America, particularly Mex ..read more

Planet-friendly, animal-friendly, human-friendly. These are the guiding principles of vegan interior design. While this also applies to veganism in general, the way this works within the interior design field is myriad. Firstly, it means not using any animal-derived materials such as fur, leather, silk, wool, down or beeswax. Secondly, it also means avoiding products that have been tested on animals.
Chloe Bullock, vegan interior designer and director of Materialise Interiors, notes that “There ..read more
