Hi guys, first post on here and as the name suggests I hail from sunny Scotland. Bought my first American truck last year and love it. It's a 2003 5.3 Silverado 1500 with a cam, uprated valve train, blackbear tune and 2800 stall converter. I understand it's not much where they are a dime a dozen in the States, but in Scotland it gets a lot of attention. In the garage in the background is my drag 335i which I'm considering selling to focus on the truck. What would I need to make the truck reliable on the strip? No focus on ET's at the moment, just making it work and not break. I've read the ..read more

Made two passes last Wednesday, had some good air + had to test out the 4.10 -> 4.56 gear swap. Given the results, I'm confident that I'm a converter swap away from 12 second time slips. -124' DA on the 13.379 pass, and -292' DA on the 13.289 pass. GREAT conditions compared to last time, 2046' DA previously. I do need to play with my shift points, maybe next time. I had it shifting at ~6100 RPM with the 4.10s. Apparently I don't have my RPM vs MPH scaled right. My data logs show 6500-6600 on the 1-2 and 6300-6400 on the 2-3. I'd like to move them around and see if it gets faster or slower n ..read more

Still need to swap the converter, but wanted to test the scoop/air box mod. It delivered, last time IATs were 140-150 degrees - this time 91. Weather was similar, only got two passes before the rain moved in. Possibly could have gotten a 3rd if I hot lapped it ..read more

Went back to the track, results inside

Refer to this thread for previous results - https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...-track-560387/ It was MUCH hotter yesterday, managed to run similar ET and MPH as before in cooler weather. I was able to log this go around with HP Tuners, my IATs were nuts. And my 3000 stall, isn't as advertised. I would say it flashes to 2000-2200 at best, that would explain my trash 60 foot times. I need to sort out those two things now that I am armed with that information. I attached my data log file from my last pass yesterday. Coolant temp was through the roof, my radiator and fans obviously can't kee ..read more

Weight reduction list?

Searched, could not really find anything. (Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms?) I'm wanting to remove a few things the next time I go to the track. Mainly the spare tire, tail gate, and hitch. I wasn't able to find any specific weights online. The hitch, Reese says is 18.7lbs The stepside tailgate a few said is 30lbs, but no one seems to have weighed one. The spare tire, I see weights of 46-68 llbs. So on the low side, i can drop about 96 lbs, on the high side 117lbs. I'm not concerned about losing traction, the truck bogs as it is now. Hopefully what I remove is worth at least a tenth ..read more

I'm going to start of by saying that I pretty much expected it to be about this slow. (I thought about 13.7 by the calibrated butt dyno) Specs are as follows: 2001 Silverado regular cab stepside, power everything and 4800lbs with me in it and 1/2 tank of fuel. 2002 LQ4 junkyard fresh short block, 862 heads from the same junkyard, TSP CHOPacabra cam and springs, TBSS intake manifold, Nick Williams 92mm TB, 8.1L non marine injectors (30lb/hr?), Speed Engineering 1.75" longtubes, exhaust system is 2.5" dual off the headers into (2) Dynomax race bullets - then a big case dual inlet, single 3.5 ..read more
