17 years late, but I'm enjoying Wii

A few of my friends had Wiis back when they were current and I dabbled with them a tiny bit back then, but for the most part I kind of wrote off the Wii as gimmicky and stupid.  My now-wife already had a Wii when we met 11 years ago, and we've carried it with us ever since, but never hooked it up.  A few months ago I decided to hook it up and get some games.      Well, color me surprised.  I'm having a lot of fun with this thing.  What initially prompted me to hook it up was that I wanted to add some easy, arcade-y type games to my basement game room for when ..read more

Hi everyone, I'm Caleb and last November I sold my first controller couplers to folks here.  Eventually I opened up listings on eBay, Reverb (for synth rack ears) and Etsy.  It's always best to reach me here though as I always pass on the savings of not going through online retailers to the customer especially if you order multiple items.    The initial couplers I made were for the Intellivision to allow games like Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and Tron Deadly Discs, some of my favorite childhood games to play so much better being able to run / shoot without interruption ..read more

New Wii U Sold in September 2023

Several site are saying a new Wii U was sold in 2023.  Not sure how this is news worthy?  Somebody happened to have a Wii U laying around and sold it, big deal.  I'm not surprised some shop happened to have some old stock laying around.  Still interesting somebody wanted it.  Maybe to resell on eBay or something.  Because new games are no longer made. Ebay or Gamestop would be the only place to get the games now.  So why would one buy.  But anyhow not news worthy.   https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/13/23915974/new-wii-u-sold-september-2023 ..read more

Wii now has trouble reading many games
AtariAge » Nintendo Wii / Wii U

I know this is a long shot.   But my Wii now has trouble reading many games, especially Gamecube games it seems. Maybe because they are more worn-out. The only "out-of-the-ordinary" thing I did with it was leave it constantly on with Super Mario Galaxy 2 inside for almost an entire year. But to be honest I don't see how that could've damaged it in a way that it is now extremely picky about which games will work. I don't know anything about how optical drives work. Does the laser become weaker with use?   What I am asking is what is wrong with my Wii (and why) and how can it be fixed ..read more

Wii u undeservibly failed because it was a great innovative systemsystem

While the wii u underservibly failed compared to the wii,it was actually a pretty innovative system wasn’t it??? Well not 100% as in 2011 the ps3 could be already connected to a psp, psvita (and in theory to a tablet or smartphone) to play games or watch movies etc,, from your ps3 online on it everywere? altrough those were NOT official addons or controllers for the ps3 (sony could,ve came up with a special tablet for the ps3 instead) BUT since both psp and psvita could be officially connected to your ps3 in 2011 trough an online connection,we can say that sony’s concept does predates nintendo ..read more

Wii U better than Switch?

I own both the Wii U and the Switch and despite the newer games I tend to play my Wii U more. Maybe it’s just my preference but the tablet controller is much more comfortable than the JoyCons. Other than Mario Kart 8 deluxe I haven’t found a Switch game that I enjoy as much as the games I do on the U. Am I alone in this or do others prefer the Wii U over the Switch ..read more

So I fire up my Wii for the first time in a few years.   It was modded, and working fine when it went into storage.   Games load fine, but when I go to access the SD card menu for the WiiWare games it freezes.    Worked fine before.  Any idea?   ..read more

Sooooo...   With the Wii U eshop closing in just over a month, I got thinking.. is there anything that is really worth buying before it vanishes into the abyss forever? I have a decent Wii U library already so I am content if there isn't but are there any digital only obscure must have gave games that I should snap up? Perhaps some hidden Indie gems?    I am only thinking of exclusives really but generally curious to what you all think ..read more
