I’m new to hunting bear and went out a few times this past month to see if I can track any bear in the big pine region of the LA/San Bernardino mountains. No luck. Did any one have any luck in these areas or Lytle creek area? Would love some advise for general season coming up ..read more

Hey everyone!
So I’ve never really hunted bear, but always keep an eye out for them and look for their tracks. And a bear hunt is beginning to peak my interest. I have a couple locations that I know and have seen bear. And it’s usually very random. Like this one pictured below at 9am and on several other occasions, having encounters at around 3-4am hiking into some of my deer spots.
So my questions are, what do you think of bear meat? What is the best time to actually hunt them? (Early...

2 questions :
1) Is it too late to get a bear in the Sierras?
I know the season goes until the end of the year. It seems the later in the season it gets, the harder it is to turn up any bears. Now, after all the snow the mountains have gotten recently, is it a futile mission to try and find a bear in the Southern Sierras? (Mid-late November)
2) If so, what do you think they would be eating?
thanks fellas ..read more
