On this week’s episode of Check Call, Anshu Prasad, CEO and co-founder of Leaf Logistics, joins FreightWaves host Mary O’Connell to dive into carrier compliance and the role of technology within it.
Key quotes from Prasad:
“At the end of the day, carriers agreeing to do work are driven by if what they’re being asked to do works for them. You can get a false signal by thinking, hey, the carrier is complying. The carrier just might be desperate or really unsure about what next week is going to bring. That’s not a really good healthy signal to kind of bank on for next week or next quarter ..read more

On this week’s episode of Check Call, Anaid Chacón, head of product at Nuvocargo, joins host Mary O’Connell to dive into a world that exists with electronic data interchanges, application programming interfaces and AI in harmony.
Key quotes from Chacón:
“There is definitely an overlap of things that affect cross-border and domestic shipments. At the end of the day, you have a shipment with three legs, two of them are domestic and one is the crossing piece. All of those trends like driver shortages and fuel prices are things that have affected people importing and exporting into Mexico ..read more

(I’m looking at you people who wait a month to respond to an email.)
Training obviously is step No. 1. Train everyone on the information to collect the second someone says there’s damage or a problem. That training starts before getting an ..read more

Just as a flood of small carriers entered the trucking industry in recent years, the freight brokerage sector has been gaining momentum — and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
“The sheer number of non-asset brokers out there is phenomenal,” Brian AuBuchon, vice president of logistics at Artur Express, said. “In the last few years, it’s swelled exponentially.”
The numbers agree. According to FrieghtWaves’ 10-year model, traditional freight brokerage gross revenue is predicted to climb from $61.4 billion in 2018 to $89 billion by 2028. The net revenue compound annual growth r ..read more

What does it take to become a broker of choice?
Of the array of integrations, apps and services that today’s 3PLs offer, fleets only value those that can actually support fleet growth.
Jay Gustafson, executive vice president of brokerage operations at Echo Global Logistics, appeared on FreightWaves’ WHAT THE TRUCK?!? to discuss the signs that a broker’s technology can support the growth of an enterprise fleet in any market.
“A broker of choice is someone that offers a flexible approach to how a 3PL and a carrier can integrate and share information transparently. More and more enterprise fleet ..read more
