Getting through newbie wobbles - advice from Cruzbike owners

We often compare the transition between riding a traditional bike and riding a Cruzbike to a skier learning to snowboard for the first time (or vice versa). It's definitely a new skill! But it's totally worth it to get to fly down the road on the fastest, most comfortable, most ridiculously fun bicycle ever. If you are learning to ride a Cruzbike and feeling frustrated with newbie wobbles or zigzags, you might find the exchange below helpful and encouraging. This conversation comes from the Cruzbike Forum - a fantastic resource for Cruzbike owners and prospective owners. "Bit fr ..read more

Race Report: Bike Sebring 2024 on the Fastest Recumbent Road Bike Ever
Cruzbike Blog
by Maria Parker

Bike Sebring is back! A terrific showing of Cruzbike Vendetta V20c racers laid down nearly 1800 miles and some lightning times on the fast new course. After the original organizers bowed out, Larry Oslund, Cruzbike dealer, and racer, restored and modernized the Sebring 12/24 bicycle race. We had a blast. At the 7:15 am start, the drafting riders pushed off. I didn’t expect to be in the front group, but I was trying to keep up with Ken Halzhausen as he accelerated quickly to 25 mph on his Cruzbike V20c. He set a blistering pace for the first large 36-mile loop and it was all I could do t ..read more

The 6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championship (WTTC), held annually since 2011, attracts the top long distance cyclists from around the world. They come to race on the desert roads around Borrego Springs, California and rack up as many miles as they can in 6, 12, or 24 hours.   5 of 6 individual recumbent road bike records at the World Time Trial Championships are held by Cruzbike Vendetta racers I raced the 6-hour event in 2016, logging 127.2 miles and setting the recumbent record. I remember the heat in the afternoon brought my pace down to a crawl and almost took me out of the race, b ..read more

Getting Lost in Norfolk, England: A Cruzbike Touring Tale
Cruzbike Blog
by Cruzbike Team

This tale of country lanes, medieval churches and unplanned exploration is shared by longtime Cruzbike Q rider Dave Godden. It will make you want to visit Norfolk with your Cruzbike...and maybe a working compass. Thanks Dave! Getting lost in Norfolk Most years I meet up with my old mate and we cycle for a few days along country lanes in Norfolk, England. It is a good area to explore on bikes as it is relatively less populated, it is a flatter part of the country and Andy happens to live there. No cycling records were broken as we stopped at cafes and looked at old churches on th ..read more

The Goal: Set a new Recumbent Road Bike Course Record on the Cruzbike Vendetta V20c For the last couple of years I have been considering racing the in the 6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships in Borrego Springs California. Cruzbike riders own many of the recumbent records, but my husband Jim saw a gaping hole in the women’s records (note we are recruiting women to race Cruzbikes, if you have an interest, email me!). I’ve given up 24 hour racing, but decided this was my year to attempt 12 hours in the Borrego Springs race. The overall course record of 258 miles seemed a very high goal f ..read more

Enjoy the gripping story of Alain Hinzen's quest for the 2023 Recumbent World Championship title racing the Cruzbike Vendetta V20 recumbent road bicycle. Thank you for sharing, Alain! November 2022: Setting goals for the 2023 season After finishing second in the 2022 Recumbent World Championships, my goal for the coming season was to win this competition. The basic constraints remain the same as in previous years (a wife, three children and limited time to train), so I decided to focus on short distance training. My plan for the championship is to collect as many points as possible in the shor ..read more

How to transport recumbent bikes
Cruzbike Blog
by Maria Parker

Jim and I take our Cruzbike recumbent road bikes everywhere. Sometimes the places we want to ride are not near enough to our home to pedal to and require us to put our Cruzbikes on a car rack. This led us to ask the question, "What is the best way to transport recumbent bikes on a car rack?" It's also a common question we receive from new Cruzbike recumbent bike owners. When we first owned Cruzbikes many years ago, we used the inexpensive trunk mounted bike racks sold just about everywhere. The racks worked just fine, but the bike had to be secured on it with bungies and were positioned at a t ..read more
