Living rooms are the epicentre of many homes across the world, they are the place where all the ‘things’ seem to happen, all the joys and all the tears (happy sad)
Having such a big status within the society of the house. A living room needs to not only look awesome but also be super comfy. Unfortunately such a highly used space can also be very difficult to decorate, and there are some key decorating tips I’d like to share so you get it right the first time.

Have You Heard Of Wabi Sabi ?
Little did I realise thatI actually had seen many many interior schemes with this exact style floating around on the socials. They tend to have the same theme of softness, organic with a focus on texture + natural products. After I bit more research I realised that is equally a style as well as a philosophy, which pricked my ears because I am a lover of a good backstory (SIde note currently watching SEE on Apple Tv...epic backstory)‘ Less House

there’s a splurge item & a save item in this concept board
If you are a fan of Target Australia then check out their bedlinen range (spring 21), its quite alright and the above quilt cover was out of stock for some time, so I was happy to see it available online again. Its the obvious save item on this shop the look interiors concept board.
The splurge item is the lovely chair from Okay. This local business to the central coast NSW, is a thoughtfully curated collection of well-made, and beautifully designed goods that have been produced ethically & sustainably. Imagine this chai ..read more

ikea has the goods
If you live in a regional part of Australia you might not know about the fantastic homewares & furniture products that Ikea stocks, so I thought I would grab a few of my fav items & pop them in a moodboard for you to see.
Never underestimate the power of budget friendly items, with the right mixture of quality big ticket items, we can often get away with adding small decor and homewares touches that are more affordable.
DESIGNER TIP : put the money into the things you feel & use on a daily bases. Think about barefeet on rugs and bums on sofas, and make sur ..read more

okay no fancy pants shop the look blog post this time round. I’m on week 6 of the Sydney lockdown, even though I live on the central coast NSW. Its a bit ho hum, all for the right reasons but ya know, juggling work and homeschooling and working super hard to keep your sanity can be tricky…. on that note, heres a little office fit out created entirely from Zanui products ( cause ya know, online shopping is the only other recreational thing we can do kinda do)…actually I am sure there are others but this is a family friendly post !!!
Now more then ever I know that a ref ..read more

blessed be the fruit
It’s true I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of season 4 of The Handmaids Tale.
The thought of living in Gilliad turely frightens me but I couldn’t help design this shop the look interiors moodboard inspired by the popular TV series. The thing that I love most about the series is the consistent colour palette.
It’s a great nod to show the greatness of picking a colour palette and the mood that can be created when its repeated throughout a space / house.
Moodboards can help with inspiration for those DIY projects, and you can even design online.

just a beaut moodboard for you to shop the look, as we say goodbye to autumn 2021
colour is the place where our brains & universe meet
— PAUL KLEE Expert Interior Design tip
If you really are a nature lover like myself, don’t be afraid to invest in a big sculptural coffee table like the one in the mood board above. I’ve balanced out the potential bulkiness of the piece by selecting an armchair thats open & free of arms (funny that?!) .
This way I can still create a feeling of spaciousness around the coffee table & keep the flow in the space. Can’t ..read more

Be your own kind of beautiful
— author unknown Expert tip - coffee table books & the colour wheel
Coffee table books are largely overlooked as a styling object. As you can see in this moodboard the book ties in with the tones of the room really well. It’s sitting within the same space on the colour wheel for the dominant colour of the room - green. Its an affordable way to decorate within a budget & also entertain your guests when they pop in for a cuppa or wine. My go to is Booktopia for an affordable o ..read more

heads up on the 80’s travertine comeback
What the heck is travertine I hear you ask ? Its the marble looking stone that is actually a form of limestone. The best thing about it is its natural colour which may explain why the Esty 2021 home decoration report on trends reported a whopping 361% increase in the search word ‘travertine table’.
Travertine is also being sold in the design world as the new neutral. It comes complete with its own unique textural & colour variation.
A bonus is its raw and organic vibe. It’s also featured massively in the latest issue of Real Living magazine.S ..read more

how the heck do I
decorate with grey
Poor old grey. It really gotten a bad rep as being the boring & bland colour. It’s associated with serious business & industrial spaces. Think the Great Depression, when everything was dull, bland & super serious, and why wouldn’t it have been, getting a loaf of bread was hard work.
Serious is a word that should be entirely avoided when it comes to decoration
— KATHRYN IRELAND
The good news is although recent colour trends in 2021 have seen the slinky dimize of grey I still think you can create a bangin interiors scheme with it, an ..read more
