My Dad is 81 and lives alone, and he told me a couple days ago that he was putting dishes away in a cabinet when he suddenly couldn't use his hands. He said they just lost all strength to where he couldn't move them at all, and his arms up to his elbows were very weak. He ended up lying down on his bed for about 10 minutes before things returned to normal. Both of us thought maybe it was a mini-stroke. But we both thought that a stroke affected just one side of the body. But could it still be a stroke if it affected both hands at the same time ..read more

Communication and Treatment with Father in Law after acute stroke

My father in law suffered from an acute ischemic stroke in the left side of his brain on March 2nd when he went unconscious. Luckily, he was sent to a hospital within 30 minutes and they performed surgery on him including an injection to remove the blood clot and also using mechanical thrombectomy with BGC. He was in ICU for approximately 3 days. He is 81 years old and has been sleeping a lot and had pneumonia with slight fever for several days.
