The world’s largest streaming platform, YouTube, has announced a lineup of artists from five countries that will be performing at this year’s Africa Day Concert on 25 May. The concert on its third edition is returning actor Idris Elba as its host with artists from Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Congo and South Africa. Nigerian record producer and musician Sarz has announced the release of a joint album project with London-based afrobeats artist, Obongjayar titled Sweetness EP on 22 July. The four-track EP produced by Sarz is delivered with a music video for the track ‘Gone Girl’ directed by French duo Julia et Vincent. Top US entertainment magazine broke the news in a blog post on Tuesday. According to Billboard, the Afrobeats music chart will officially go live on its platform as from March 29. The magazine said the chart will rank 50 most popular Afrobeats songs in the US based on a weighted formula. This, it said, will incorporate official streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading audio and video music services as well as download sales from top music retailers.
