Back when I was a kid, I raced slot cars for fun.  That ended when the tracks started closing (late 60's) and my interests were changing as I got older.  Fast forward about 25 years and I got back into it again with my kids.  That track closed and my kids were growing up so I stopped again. With the Hiro kits and Matrix 1:43 scale models very hard to find, I went with a used MMK 43 slot car of the AC A98 Coupe. It took a little diddling to get the driver on the correct side of the car, a wiper on the windshield, and better ride height, but overall, I think it came out a presentable curbside model - albeit with the wrong coves behind the side windows ..read more

I'm the original owner of a Cox Chaparral, and want to get it out of storage on display with my kits.  Only a few race nites, and a goof put his bare chassis on my lane -- backwards, oc -- and it busted out one headlite shield.  Any ideas for sources of the OEM kind? Also, have c.1959 Strombecker Scarab battery 'slot' that after 60 years I'm converting to a display model; engine, etc.  Still have the original decals intact (how brittle will they be?!) but need to find source for nice Halibrands in resin or 3D, one has a broken 'bead'.  Also, anyone know of a source for the ..read more

A friend of mine sent me this image and I was wondering if anyone here could shed any light on it. Looks to be 1960s. Was it expensive for the time? The oval says 1/32 scale but the strip looks bigger. The description for the strip says Jag XKE and Mercedes 300SL but pictures look more like a Cobra and, oddly, a Nash Healey(!) Tinkering around with my HO drag stuff, and was wondering if anyone has any tips for upgrading the AW 4-gear chassis. I have a Mega G+ and a JAG chassis to put on my custom bodies, but wouldn’t mind upgrading all the 4-gears that are on the AW dragsters and funny cars. I have seen something on tightening the fourth gear as well as changing out the wheel/axle. Any other thoughts? Tires? Parts?   ..read more
