Hi all, I’m new to hi-fi equipment, so I’m sure this will come off as quite stupid.
I bought this stereo receiver off of eBay that was dead on arrival. Not even an audible click or flash on the display when I hit power. Seller claims it was tested and working however, a quick look inside revealed healthy fuses and capacitors.
Only thing out of order was this completely unattached (slightly burnt) transformer. I tried plugging it back in with no success. Still nothing. Not sure where to go from here, but is my only option to chase power with a multimeter? Any guidance would be greatly appr ..read more

Years ago (early 90’s) as a teenager a friend and i used to spend hours listening to music on his dads hifi. It’s was amazing discovering music on what i thought at the time was an astonishing system. It was Bose 901’s with a Luxman valve amp and matching d107 cd player. At the time I comment believe anyone would spend $3000 on speakers. I also think it is what planted the seed for my interest in music reproduction.
Last night we did it again and I had the best time. This time though we were at my house on my system and I consequently blew his mind with BeoLab 5’s. I know they aren’t uni ..read more

I have an original Rega Planar 3 with the mk1 S-arm. I bought it new around 40 years ago.
It's started being a little temperamental - making strange wow-and flutter like modifications to music.
I've had it tested - it's turning at the correct speed and the actual wow and flutter when measured is within the expected range for this turntable when new, let alone at 40+ years old.
As a result, the hifi shop guy thinks it's most likely the PCB showing signs of an intermittent fault which won't be worth repairing - the board itself is ~£450 and when (not if) the arm goes, that'll be another £100-£1 ..read more

Usually I got my DSP at hifi and nohting else. But since my high pitched noise problem doesn't go away I read somewhere, that the hifi mode might trigger it. So I disabled it. I cannot hear anything changing, since I don't got any effects enabled.

Hi! Just changed amplifer from a Argon SA1 to a NAD c338. I also got a NAD PP-1 (Pre-Amp) when I bought the amplifer.
The amp got phono built in. However, I want to use the external pre-amp. I do not understand where I should plug in the external pre-amp. Can someone here help a newbie out? (I found it pretty easy on my Argon SA1)

What could cause a difference between L/R speakers when I have to set the amp on R4 (out of 6) to make the sound balanced in the middle?! I have a pair of Dynaudio and Marantz integrated.
I'm thinking the volume knob but IDK really. Everything is centered with headphones but the option to balance is off anyway.

I know very little about hifi audio so need some help.
I currently have a Wiim Pro Plus amplifier and a set of Mission MX1 speakers. My use case is hdmi input from the tv and streaming from youtube music / various other sources.
Am i going to see a massive upgrade in sound quality if i upgrade my speakers or do i need to change out the Wiim before the speakers?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm new to the world of hi-fi and I'm thinking of pairing the Pioneer VSX-534 receiver with the Klipsch R-50M speakers. My issue is, the receiver is rated for 80W and the speakers for 75W, is that going to be a problem?
Thank you in advance
