Hello I feel like I’ve almost finished my hifi set up… if such a thing has an end…
I have a supernait 1 and a nd5 xs with a hicap 2.
I also have a Croft valve pre amp for a pink triangle turntable
I then have a amp splitter to divide between the pioneer lx59 AVR and the supernait amp.
Just wondering if I then need RCAs to connect the supernait to the AVR and then the turntable to the valve and then the supernait as a poweramp.
Are RCAs/interconnects the best cable options and am I missing anything, will this work? Am I missing anything. Feel like I’m close. But pretty far. Also wondering about ..read more

Picked up a used Klimax DSM2 to try. Hooked it up last night to my Alluxity Integrated and it sounded nice. Feel as though I might not need the integrated if I have the DSM 2 in the system and thought about running it directly to an amp. Thought first of the Klimax Twin and then thought why not Naim since it now has the Balanced XLR’s. Anyone else tried this with their Linn? I’m running Wilson Duette’s so feel as though the 250 or Twin would be sufficient.

Looking for advice and confirmation of next steps. I have a 2014 NAC 282 that I am looking to sell after an upgrade to 252. I have used with a Hicap and it has worked perfectly, but I am selling the components separately and when I tested the 282 without the hicap the mute button will not stop flashing. I assume my next step would be to take it in for service, which given its 10 years old it probably needs anyways? Appreciate any advice or confirmation that service is the next logical step.
Thanks

Recently swapped Spotify for Tidal and I’m impressed with the uplift in sound quality.
I’m not a big headphone user but occasionally listen via my Android phone (Motorola G62 5g) with a pair of Meze 99 Classics.
I thought I’d try a Dragonfly Cobalt dac and was impressed with improvement…more space around the instruments, clearer sound and a more believable soundstage generally.
Unfortunately though, after maybe 30 mins listening the sound cut out. No buffering or strange noises…Nothing.
After an hour or so the thing would start working. But again only for 30 mins or so.
I returned it to the su ..read more

So here’s an interesting one that happened to me.
My beloved cat wanted to listen to music yesterday but I was going out for the full day, so I switched from my Mscaler Dave to the streamer to analog output and set it on radio paradise.
I did, however forget to switch It back to the Dave.
I sat down for some listening last night, and I just did NOT feel like listening. It sounds strangely crude to my ears… what is going on? maybe I am tired
Again now, I put on the system, and didn’t feel like listening at all, in fact the full day I didn’t want to come to listen to the system (tried a few time ..read more

I bought a Powerline in Feb but have had the house full of visitors, DIY and bits of work such that I’ve never had a chance to use if with my SN3 in a stable listening environment.
Tomorrows the day!
Will I be chuffed, over / underwhelmed or indifferent?
Bought blind as it was a great price at the time!

I got a Hicap DR recently to my SN3, and I must say it sounds very good.
But I mean, Hicap has a 500VA transformer, which is beefy.
And it only supports the preamp section.
I’m not complaining, it’s just a reflection.

Dear all,
Current system 282/HCDR/250DR.
Question: I’m interested in Bi-Amping, adding a second (pre loved) 250DR to my setup above.
Can I connect the second 250DR to the HiCap and run a speaker off each 250DR? (My current speakers are not bi-wire, (but I am planning on upgrading them to a bi-wire speaker at a near future date). I have the option of getting my hands on the pre loved 250DR now and serial number wise it’s manufactured same month as my current 250DR, hence moving on this first.
For reasons best known to myself, I’m not interested in upgrading the 282 or upgrading the HiCap!

Messing about yesterday with interconnects between a few pieces of peripheral gear, TV, DVD, Internet Streamer ….comparing the performance between the analogue and optical inputs on the Naim N-Vi….
The optical/SPDIF inputs are much quieter than the analogue….and TBH to my ears the analogue inputs sound better.
I tried the comparison on an Arcam Solo Movie2 and the result was the same….
Interesting?……single cable fibre or copper feeds are very convenient when connecting up digitally but is it perhaps better to stick with the old school analogue option?

I wrote some time ago if music via hifi was a destination or a journey. I’ve reached my destination. I recently bought a pair of ex-dem Heritage Specials. Not cheap but in the context of the expenditure on a 500DR system, a modest price. They are aesthetically pleasing. I listen in my living room which is about 21 x 13.5 with a normal ceiling and the usual furniture. That’s a fundamental component of the overall set-up, a fact I ignored for too long. The music produced by the Naim and the speakers satisfies my requirements. I have reached the end of my journey
