Unfortunately, a young female driver hit it. The insurance company paid-off >$50K for it, to the Pontiac owner, a friend of ours who's helping with our 1957 Nomad project. Here is the Pontiac owner, doing the engine mounts on our project Nomad ..read more

Hi everyone. A wheel bearing in my zero turn mower recently went bad and I took the wheel to a small engine repair shop. While leaving, I saw a 1968 Impala SS convertible parked. Took a look at it. Part of the front end was missing. The inside appeared to be used for storage. The front buckets and console were missing. The body appeared to be fairly straight. No major dents. Didn't see any rust. According to the fender badges, came with a 350 engine. Not sure of the floor pans or trunk. This... 1968 Impala SS Convertible ..read more

I just bought a '63 Impala Super Sport and along with it I also got a 396 that was hooked up to a Borg Warner 4 speed. Today we worked on the engine and separated the transmission from the block. As they are both frozen we took the engine apart and were very disgusted in the treatment this engine got. We haven't gotten to the transmission yet. The engine was very clean sludge wise but there was no oil to drain. It was being run with only seven plugs. The water passages were almost closed... OK, I Give Up ..read more

Earlier today I got off my computer (having caught up on trifive.com, etc) and wandered into my den, and found a large (long) package sitting in my chair. It was about a 4' long box with 'Truck Legends' on the outside. Wifey wanted to know what I'd bought, and I told her I hadn't bought that - it was FREE from Chevrolet Truck Div. Opened up it was a large Umbrella (like a golf umbrella) with a 'Chevy Truck Legends' logo on one side of it. Since 1997 I've purchased 4 new Chevy trucks... 1965 Malibu rocker molding question

I am working on a 1965 Malibu that has rocker moldings on it. The bottoms of the fenders have had work done and I guess the molding stuck out from the fender. So they drilled a hole through the moldings and fenders put a screw through them to hold the end down. I need to know how the molding was mounted to the fender originally so that I can put it back the way it belongs ..read more

My 67 elcamino came back from bodyshop jail without the u-shaped mouldings that go on the left and right side of the tailgate. I got the upper and lower back just not the ends. Does anyone know a source for these parts. I removed the woodgrain vinyl stuff and painter painted the area with the same black metallic as the roof (roof used to have black vinyl covering). The rest is metallic silver. Trying to finish up a total frame off rebuild ..read more

Well, I thought 6 hours would be more than enough time.... This was for the rear left caliper. The orig one is still on there, so I thought the biggest issue would be getting the brake line out of the caliper. It came right out so I felt home free!! Took out the 2 bolts, and got the old caliper off in about 20 min. I grabbed the new caliper and figured I'd be done in a jiffy. Put the bolt in by the tail of the car, no problems. Go to put the other bolt back in, it won't go in!!! I... Todays C3 caliper install fail > ..read more

Hello people! I installed a C3 front clip and IRS in my '56 hardtop project many years ago, and I'm now getting back into the build. The engine is a 350 with a 6-71 Weiand blower, and I'm anticipating it'll be producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 500+ horsepower. I'd like to upgrade the IRS to handle the additional HP, and plan to replace the half shafts, U-joints, differential cover, struts, etc. with heavy duty pieces. There's a lot of companies out there (Corvette Central, Mid... ANYONE HERE FAMILIAR WITH C3 CORVETTE IRS UPGRADES? NEED SOME HELP PLEASE ..read more

I received an email today from ZIP Corvettes, with a very good article (very thorough with several great tips) for rebuilding the 4-piston disk brake calipers used on 1965-1982 Corvettes. Some of you may own Corvettes or this genre or have these brakes on your trifive. I'd suggest saving this article or studying thru it.. [URL...
