I know every location is different but here in the province of Ontario, you cannot smoke in any building except your own home. Not even smoke shops.
I wonder if tobacco laws are part of the reason why we just don't see pipe/cigar smokers on the street anymore. Maybe we'll hang out with friends over a pipe or cigar but out on the street?
A generation ago, when you could smoke indoors (when I was in university, you could smoke in the cafeteria even), you would see pipe smokers. I remember...

I live in the suburbs of Toronto. My local smoke shop has some house tobacco blends. One is a VERY good "match" for Dunhill 965. I think they use a different three-digit number but it's really close. I like it.
I mourned deeply when McLellands went under. Saint James Woods was my favourite tobacco. It was the blend that I said that if I were on a deserted island and I could have only one blend for the rest of my days, it would be Saint James Woods.
Do any of you know a tobacco shop that...

I just joined this forum a few days ago. What led me here was when I googled "young pipe smokers." There was a thread from more than a decade ago about guys who started smoking "a pipe" when they were 12 years ago, but they weren't pipes. They were something made out of a tin can or something or other.
But did any of you start smoking "actual" (briar) pipes at a young age? Did you smoke regularly at that age (say, with your dad's permission)? I'd be curious. In my introduction I indicated...

My dad was a pipe smoker, and would think nothing of walking into a neighbor's house with a lit bowl.
I always waited till I became "old" enough to smoke a pipe without looking silly. Well, now I'm PLENTY old, and I never, EVER see ANYONE smoking a pipe these days.
My tobacconist has a pipe & tobacco section in the store, but I've never seen anyone buy or even browse that section of the store.

So, over the years I’ve found lots of different ghosts that play quite nicely with my chosen tobaccos, however every once in a while I find one that does NOT!
For about the past year or so my afternoon drive smoke has been one flavor or another of GH&CO Lakeland in a German made bent pot. Last week I felt like something different might be nice and loaded up some Black Twist, by the time I got home I had pretty much decided that the Twist wasn’t gonna make the drive time rotation and dug...

I was just wondering if anyone had ever used WV SmokeShopDOTcom? They have some really good prices on Stokkebye tobacco $7.99 for 4 oz of Bulls Eye Flake, and their prices for pipe cleaners are good as well. Not much else of a selection, but the bulk prices are great ..read more

Hello.
I'm new to pipe smoking and I was hoping for some advice. I'm looking to get a pipe suitable for learning but also one that isn't junk. I'd like to keep it in the $50 and under range as I'm still unsure if the hobby is for me.
I have been looking around a bit but I just don't have any idea what I'm looking at. Any advice or recommendations are welcomed. I'm also going to need some intro tobacco suggestions as well.
I thought Aromatic was a good jumping-off place but don't really...

I have working my way through The Complete Sherlock Holmes, and as we and everyone else know, Holmes smokes a pipe. Apparently the smoking is a great aid in solving mysteries.
But anyway, shag tobacco is mentioned when Holmes smokes and I was wondering if shag refers to a flavor, a specific type, a cut or what? Watson also refers to the blue smoke it creates a couple times ..read more

My tobacco is far too moist to smoke right now because the ambient humidity is around 80 in my house and it has been raining for about week, so it is getting worse. The tobacco feels wet in my fingers when I take a pinch of it. I can only get through about half of a bowl because it is so moist.
I have read about putting some in the microwave or oven, but I don't really want to try that. I tried using a fan to dry some but that didn't help at all.
My question is how can I dry some tobacco to...
