Back in 2014-2015 I got into pipes & pipe tobacco a bit. I picked up a little bit here and there and did some trades for a couple pipes & some pipe tobacco to get started. Needless to say, I enjoyed it for 1 winter season and didn’t pick it back up (no particular reason). I’ve been scoping out some forums here on different pipes & tobacco blends you’ve all been putting together and it’s been in my radar to try out again. In addition to trying some small taste tests of some cigar blends I put...

This is what happened to some stuff from another supplier. Been jarred since august. I can’t afford for shit like this to happen here in NZ. I accept it may have just been a bad batch, my fault, or just an accident, but non of my WLT leaf has any issues despite getting the same treatment ..read more

Lay it on me. My first WLT sampler plus a lb of Latakia arrives tomorrow, what blends should I try first?
For context:
I'm currently enjoying early morning pipe every morning and switching between C&D engine 99 and Awakened Elder in the evening. EMP I've really enjoyed from the moment I opened the tin till the last bowl. 99 started out tasting a bit too bitter but after an ounce or so I'm enjoying it decently. Elder tastes insane (in a good way), starts off tasting like pure soap, gets...

I really enjoy variety, sure when I find something I really like it goes into rotation, but I'm never satisfied with just two or three regulars. This seems to present a dilema. I found that I really can't judge a blend well until I've smoked a good 1/2+ oz of it through the pipe. Sometimes something that was just ok or even "not great" the first bowl ends up changing my mind by the time I finish the tin or 1-2 oz bulk. Other times it seems to taste great in only one of my pipes. Am I crazy...

I don't know how many Canadian pipe smokers frequent this forum and have Brigham pipes but I thought I would share the Christmas present I received.
It is a book on the history of "Brigham" pipes.
It it written by Charles Lemon who repaired three pipes for me earlier this year. He can fix Brigham maple insert pipes and did a great job resorting on one of my patent pipes. He extracted and reused the old aluminum filter insert in the new stem so it is old and new very cool.
I read this in one...

There are a few different blend I enjoy that have a cube cut Burley. Some are cased(I imagine). In the spirit of creating ingredients for pipe blends I tried a toasted cube cut.
First I cased leaves with water and then toasted at 220F until crispy. 35-40 mins.
(Next time I may do a couple rounds of this)
I then brought back into case and pressed for a few days, adding a little more pressure every once and awhile. I feel like a good cube cut will come from a good tight plug which steam or...
