Vertebra - Seatown beach

Hi,   Please delete if not appropriate for this site, but you are a knowledgable bunch ! Picked up this morning at Seatown. Pretty sure it’s a vertebra, and from the weight and that I can mark it with a knife I don’t believe it’s fossilised.  It’s around 6cm by 5cm - the surface colouring you can see on the pics is reasonably true to life, very flint like.   Any thoughts what animal it might be from ? Hello, I'm by no means a fossil hunter, but I'd lie if I didn't hope to find some on my holiday.  Found this bone shaped rock at the far end of Gorleston beach. Was wondering if someone more in the know could shed some light on it. Category: British Fossils ..read more

Found this in a freshly ploughed field in Kent. Is it just a remarkably tooth shaped flint, or could it be a fossil?  Any thoughts very much appreciated! Category: Your Finds ..read more

Melted glass or geological?

Hello all, Just dug this out of the garden, (flinty topsoil SE UK). Size is 80 x 55 x 50mm. It might be just melted glass or something more interesting. Seems to be translucent black mainly but the big half bubble in one image appears dark green. There are lots of small bubbles about 1mm to 2mm. There is a feature about 10mm long which appears as a blue border around white/grey interior. Surface is very shiny when dry, any ideas please? Hello. Very excited to be joining this forum today. My first post in here. Whilst painting my garage floor, I noticed this object embedded in the concrete. Could it be that a fossil was within the gravel ? I live in Suffolk and the gravel likely came from a pit just north of Ipswich.  Any theories much appreciated! Richard. I am struggling to think how a belemnite fossil could occur in flint, but similarly i don't know what could have made a hole this shape for the flint to form in?   Found in cretaceous flint.
