The haunting melody, the harmonies, the poetic lyricism… When I first heard it, I fell in love with how it sounded. But now when I listen to it, I just cry because the lyrics are so beautiful. I also love how this song didn’t have 8 different writers , it was just Beyonce and Shawntoni. From my perspective, she is pretty much singing about the reality of losing people she loves.
