P166 No POST beep etc and also no Floppy or CDROM activity

Working on an old Micron P166 that has a not unheard of issue of nothing working: No POST, beeps, video, etc. when booted. Only the system fan and power/reset lights come on. What's really throwing me is both the CDROM and Floppy drive are also unresponsive. Putting in a floppy does nothing, and the CDROM drive does nothing when the eject button is pushed. The only thing that works consistently are the Power and Reset buttons. The motherboard LOOKS fine. Swapping power supplies changes nothing behavior wise. I have also disconnected the floppy and CDROM drive and still no change. Any suggesti ..read more

Compaq Armada 4150 blank screen

Hello! I have a Compaq Armada 4150 which has a blank screen. I mean totally blank; no backlight or any kind of image whilst shining a torch on it. Apart from the screen, everything works fine as I have it hooked up to an external monitor and have Windows 98 installed. I also setup the diagnostics partition and reset all the BIOS settings. I tried Fn + F4 which switches between internal and external display mode. All that happens is that the external monitor loses signal, nothing changes on the internal screen. I also tried a new 3V backup battery, which didn't help either. Any ideas what migh ..read more

Is there a ROM for the NTS DreamWriter T400 with BASIC?

Whenever I search for the NTS DreamWriter, basically (pun intended) all the information is for the 325. I’ve found about one post online for the T400, as well as the manual, but no ROM files, or mention of BASIC, unlike the 325, which I can easily find an entire video of someone upgrading to the BASIC ROM and using it. If there is no ROM version with BASIC, I guess that’s fine as I can just use it as a terminal. submitted by /u/WoomyUnitedToday [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hard Disk installation problems (MSDOS and WIN95) with IDE/SD card adapter

I have a Zeos 486dx2 66MHz that I have been trying to get up and running. I had to replace a lot of the parts, including getting a new hard drive/disk. I got help awhile back here in this sub about what to do for a new hard drive, in which I got an IDE to SD card adapter. Problem: I formatted the SD card into FAT16 partitions of 2 gig each. Bios was able to auto detect my hard disk as 1690mb. I am able to boot to the A Drive and start MSDOS installation. MSDOS says it needs to format the unallocated space for the installation. I only have the option to proceed, in which I do. After it get ..read more

How would I go about using a Tandy 1200 HD with a modern PC?

As the title suggests, I would like to know how to go about using a Tandy 1200 HD keyboard with my modern system. It uses a 5-pin DIN connector, which I know can't really directly adapt to USB (at least not properly), so I figured I would ask here to find out if a method existed to use this keyboard with a modern system. submitted by /u/RingoOrigo [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have a bunch of ISA and PCI cards with som AGP thrown in. I was watching Adrian Black's channel and it looks like he has a "rack" on one of his shelves with a bunch of cards on it. Before I design my own does anyone know if there's one already on Printables or Thingaverse? I have probably close to 100 cards and don't really need to store them all but it would be nice to be able to put those 3 form factors video cards along with sound and network cards so when I'm working on stuff it would be easy to pull something. So is there already something or should I design it? P.S. I also have quite ..read more
