I've been getting into MS DOS although I'm no expert just yet I'm still learning the commands and what things do and how DOS works in general.
I was always a RISC OS BBC Basic person so I never really dabbled much in MS-DOS.
In the early days when I worked for a computer place, the only involvement I had with MS-DOS was installing it so my knowledge with DOS never went beyond that. The good thing about DOS is that I can install it on CF Card as its a light very basic OS and with CF cards I...

I've had the IPS screen to fit to a GBC for a while now, but never got round to it - then recently there was a new wave of AMOLED screens for them... so why not
I didn't take many photos whilst doing this, only of testing the screen
Then the completed Game Boy. New shell, screen, stickers and speaker. I gave the original membranes, buttons and dpads a deep clean and re-used them as the 3rd party ones are a bit.. off...

One thing that hit me straight away was the amount of computer/console rivalries ie at least 2 or more different machines clashing against each other in the different eras.
Today we have the PC dominating the market with Apple hanging on.
Are we ever going to see a rival to ..read more

Hey all,
I wanted to make a thread to raise awareness of some of the online games via original hardware that have servers hosted by different awesome communities across the Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2 and Original Xbox.
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast/GC/Xbox):-
Quake 3 (Dreamcast/PC):-
Resident Evil Outbreak (PS2):-
Halo 2 (Xbox)
Some of these consoles will need broadband adapters / modems to get back online and...

I've downloaded the 1.44MB floppy version of FreeDOS which comes in six files that I unzip. I use PeaZip to unzip and extract the floppy images and then I write the images to six formatted 1.44MB floppy disks but when trying them they don't boot, the files copy fine to the floppy disks but they aren't bootable on any system?
Floppy disks are new and fresh and there are no problems with the floppy drives I've tried them in.
I can download and copy DOS 7.1 to floppy just fine and those work...

Was thinking recently what a brilliant era the early 90s were for UK gaming (Edios, Rockstar, Revolution to name a few). I know most have since been merged into mega corporations overseas but there was a time where we were a leading force from relatively small teamed beginnings. Any idea on why we got it so right ? Presumably the tech was available for developing (and made) outside the UK and so not just an access thing ..read more
