Star Trek & lsdos

I recently wrote a rather large simulation of Star Trek. It’s about 34 Kb, is written in TinyBasic for the TRS-80, and runs on most machines with 48 Kb. I wrote it on a M1L2 running Newdos/80. It should run on all M1-4s. I was recently told that it was “a little” too large for a 48 Kb machine running lsdod. My post is twofold: 1) I want to give this software away for free. It should run on most 48 Kb machines running most DOSes. This is the first I’ve ever ever heard of it not... Read more ..read more

IBM 5100 display woes

Hi, I was lucky enough to stumble into an IBM 5100 in the last couple of weeks. It has in been in storage for years (likely decades) and to the best of my knowledge has not been touched from its original working state since. I've cleaned it up quite a bit, carefully opened it, removed a lot of dust and the degraded foam on the cards, reseated them, checked and cleaned the connectors off the A1 board, etc. At present I get no video output on either the internal CRT and the external BNC... I purchased Kennett Classic's TRS-80 Model II and for some reason the machine threaded screws that held the top casing to the chassis and the screws that hold the keyboard together are just...gone. They seem to be machine screws but I have no idea what dimensions they might be, so I'm hoping someone here might know so I can source replacements ..read more

Okidata gm 3305hu 5 1/4 disk drive problem

Hi dear friends, I have a Kaypro 2X with two DS DD disk drives, model Okidata gm 3305hu. The kaypro works but don't boot. Trying to fix it, I removed the disk drives to test it in a DOS environment. Finally I've managed to get one of those drives working, but not the other. The configuration are the same in both drives, but one of the drives doesn't read or write diskettes at all. Normally a "Sector not found error". If you try to format a diskette, it seems to work, the head goes up and... Read more ..read more

Dear All! Does anybody know what thew purpose is of this module? Is it some kind of fast digital IO? There seems to be a similar module which can put 16bit date in and from memory: http://bitsavers.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/pdf/dec/qbus/EK-DRV1B-OP-001_DRV11-B_General_Purpose_DMA_Interface_Users_Manual_Aug76.pdf Unfortunately I am not able to find documentation of the DRQ11 module, maybe somebody here can help out? Hey guys, it has been a long time since I posted but wanted to see if y'all can help me out. Bit of a backstory. When I was in middle school I bought this Itronix laptop from a yard sale for $8. It didn't have a power supply or anything. It runs on 12v power so a supply was easy enough to come up with and I had it running in no time! It originally had Windows 3.1 but I later upgraded to Windows 95. Back in the day I had a bunch of accessories for it- including a PC-Card CD-ROM and GPS... Read more ..read more
