The chaplains from Mother Frances hospital, who distribute our quilts there, sent me a nice note the other day along with a note they received from a patient family.  These kind thanks belong to all of you who have helped CiL. (click on the images to expand them to make it easier to read)    Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 1400 so far!  The brand new quilt finish is 'Grandma's Fans'!  This was started in 2021 sometime after my daughters wedding. Just felt like getting a couple of the fabric stacks moving and grooving. Grandma's Fans Quilt is finishedd! Didn't get the top together until September of 2022, but that's not really an extra long time for projects around here. You're probably thinking 'Wow! There's no applique in it.' but actually there is. All the wedges and quarter circle are machine sewn together, but then, well... I simply had to hand sew them to the background squares ..read more

Last year my hubby took a voluntary redundancy and retired 4 years earlier than planned. We had only been in Australia 8 months so I was still in in the midst of bringing order to chaos in my new sewing studio! So it's felt like lots of tasks were still on my to-do list for the last 8 months!  Civil War repro and traditional prints We live a very busy, active retired life, so I'm not in the studio much anymore. Hi and welcome to week 581 of Free Motion Mavericks. Fibre Fling finds  Last Friday and Saturday was the Out of the Box (OOTB) Fibre Artists' Fibre Fling 2024. I was there for most of the two days, spending my time at the Membership table. Oh, the lilacs!! I could smell them in the drive as we arrived home from the airport after midnight on Tuesday - which I guess was really Wednesday morning.
