So apparently mouthwash with CPC (cetylpyridinium chloride) can reduce the infectivity of HSV-1. Here is the simplified study: This study found that mouthwashes containing cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) can greatly reduce the ability of herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1) to infect cells in a lab setting.
