Alright, I give up. The last two years I've missed the latter part of deer season bow hunting due to neck/shoulder problems. I'm looking at crossbows. Kinda like the Excalibur style due to I like working on my own stuff, but I'm open to suggestions. My considerations are: Ease of cocking and unlocking. In a tree stand Noise level. Cost. I saw that Excalibur even makes a double barreled one! What's y'all's pick ..read more

Archery Question

I'm looking to pick up a bow for hunting in the next couple weeks. I've been to an archery store got measured and shot a couple different bows. So there's 2 things I have a question about. 1. My draw length is 31.5 inches, which eliminates a lot of bows off the bat. The RX7 Ultra I shot handles it and gives me a little more room up to a 32 inch draw. However, it was a 60lb bow that I was easily shooting at 56lbs. The others I shot couldn't get to 31.5, but were 70 lb bows and I really... Read more ..read more

I’m a meat eater, not at all ashamed. I also know not all Iowa bucks are Booners. So I see a public ground buck at maybe 100 yards and for kicks, hit him with a grunt call. The stinker comes in on a line, but my natural ground blind has a horizontal log suspended right across his vitals. I’ve got my crossbow on him as soon as he clears the log. He was less than 10 feet away when I shot. I thought if he was that stupid, I would clean him out of the gene pool. The two does were taken in a deer... Read more ..read more

Handmade bow, hand knapped obsidian broadheads....and he "kilt a bar"! Not bad! Even if he is an Okie! I feel good killing a deer with handloads or calling in a turkey with a home made call...but I believe he's got me bested!!! https://www.themeateater.com/conser...ck-bear-with-stone-point-for-first-time-since ..read more

Ok I'm old school, I use a 91 model Franken bow, at 61.9#, I just switched from 2315s to fmj, and still a finger finger. I'm looking for a 175gr head that is easily sharpened. Vpa looks interesting as well as the German Jager. Just curious if any of you guys had experience ..read more

Any chance anyone has this bow? I don't really need one, but have a lot of Cabela's points and gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. This is the only bow they have that interests me in left hand versions and it ships from the manufacturer so I can't go try one. It's 31" ATA, perfect for a ground blind and has the EKO cams with up to 90% letoff which interests me ..read more
