Having bought a bow in 2023 and had an embarrassing failure that fall, I have been practicing quite a bit this spring and have greatly improved my aim and confidence, but it raises an interesting question. When hunting with a rifle from a ground blind, I often take a shooting stick with me, though I don't always use it if the shot presentation does not allow for it. I was wondering if any of you archery hunters used artificial supports for bowhunting? I think my groups are good enough to... Read more ..read more

Quiver in a bow case

I bought my first bow last spring including the common Plano plastic case. Not being familiar with the whole setup, I quickly learned that the support pillars in the center of the case do not permit me to close the case with my quiver fully loaded (5). In practice, I can get three arrows into the quiver and close the case. It seems that most plastic bow cases have this problem, which is odd because my case is deep, seemingly designed with on-quiver use in mind. This seems like a real... Read more ..read more

Anyone using these out there? I may have brand new old stock but my question is they came with an orange shock collar which is a flimsy plastic. They also sent out 3 black collars which they said I should use instead of the orange. The black ones fit inside the orange so they are smaller and I tried to lock blades in with them but are too small. What are you guys using to hold them together and also not have premature deployment? Thx ..read more

I've been using Ameristep 2-man Doghouse blinds since I started bear hunting. They're ideal for the purpose, but I'm finding them less so for archery (Not enough room, nowhere to put the bow). My bear blinds and deer blinds are set up in different places, so I can keep using the small blinds for bear, but I think its time to get something bigger for deer. Any thoughts for a good archery ground blind would be welcome. I might even consider something semi-permanent as the location in mind... Read more ..read more

Drove out to our leased farm in Iowa this weekend. Left thursday at 3 pm, arrived on Friday at 11 am. Met the land owner around 2 pm at the farm. He gave us a grand tour of the 350 acre farm till about 630 pm. Great guy. Amazing farm! Saw a bunch of deer Probably over 400 through the weekend there and driving around. We got 10 stands set up and left 8 cell cams out there till we go back in November. Certainly not like here! Took a bunch of photos and... Read more ..read more
