Hey all, I got my OTC tag and have been itching to go - I graduated this December, so couldn't take any time off for January with my new job. My buddies weren't able to get their tags, but I don't want to pass up the opportunity to get some experience under my belt. If anyone else wants to tag along, I'd be more than happy to have you in camp. My hunting experience thus far has been sitting in trees, so I'm viewing this as a hiking trip where I'll learn a lot about spot & stalk, knowing I... Splintering limbs… potentially new bow?

Welp, my bow ran through the strings in only a year this go around, kinda bummed about it but when I took the bow in, come to find out the bottom limb is splintering off shooting straight out hanging about 6 or 7 inches long (around the thickness of 2-3 spaghetti strands right on the edge). They’re giving it a look by their head bow specialist, but I’ve had it since 2014 and all the money Ive been able to save from my job leaves me in a spot to buy something new and nice (if I have to). I’m... Splintering limbs… potentially new bow ..read more

On the last day of my traditional group deer and javelina hunt i had a blast. 10 folks in camp, 9 with longbows and one recurve. I had gotten into a bunch of Coues deer the afternoon before so started the morning by heading to that same area, just walking from camp. Got into them again, hanging out with them about 3 hours, a 3x3 and a few spikes along with multiple does. They were feeding and chasing each other, some getting within 30 yards of me. But eventually, of course, I was winded and... Another great walk with my bow ..read more

25-yard shot. It went about 45 yards, and it was game over. Weighed 53 lbs. The Rage broadhead has never let me down. An upcoming skull mount is a given. Thinking about doing a 1/2 life-size open-mouth mount. [ATTACH... Javelina down (Unit 22, archery ..read more

Do you guys have have any recommendations on shops to go to around me in Northwest Phoenix? I'm needing to do everything from get measured to getting any necessities. Thinking about buying a crossbow, but don’t know much about them. Who’s making the best and most accurate? Don’t want to break the bank but am thinking of using it during black powder season, which will give me more hunting opportunities. Can’t draw a traditional compound bow anymore. Thanks in advance ..read more

My house is surrounded by BLM and State trust land and I see deer come through next to my house all the time. I am aiming to land my first deer this year. I didnt grow up hunting and i dont have friends/damily that hunt. I'm starting to do alot of reading though. I have a few questions: 1. I can accurately place my broadheads within the kill zone at 60+ yards, but 40 yards is where I would really be comfortable making sure even the "fliers" make it in the kill zone. So that's where I'm... Archery Deer Advice ..read more

First off I know out of state hunters aren't highly thought of. But my son and I are doing the Dec. Archery OTC Mule Deer for the third and last time. Driving from Georgia. We've hunted in the Prescott area last two years. Close but no cigar. Thinking of trying a unit further south. Any advice on any units appreciated. Thanks ..read more
