Is there any diseases or negatives to eating wild hogs where you hunt? Its been awhile since I looked into it.
Here in Ca the claim used to be Trichinosis….but in truth thats more with bear meat eating in Dumps.
The ones here are typically infested with ticks…but I haven’t heard anything about that infecting the meat ..read more

May be a dumb question but haven’t done this before so I’ll ask anyways. I went to go buy a turkey tag and she asked if I was going to be doing any big game this year. I said yes and she said that if you buy a big game tag with your turkey tag you’ll get it at a discounted price. When I got the receipt, I got charged 64.90 for the deer w/ discount and 15.40 for the turkey. The way she said it made it seem like I’d be buying a deer tag with a discounted turkey tag. A deer tag is 44.90, 66.90...

I recently purchased a property and am undecided on ladder vs mobile stands for the fall. Do many of you use a mobile setup of sticks/hang on while on private property? I like the flexibility of them while I learn the property more and more and then maybe down the road put up more permanent ladder stands for the long term. Thoughts ..read more

So I was just on the NWTF website and looked up turkey scoring and the VA records...
Well in 2007 I shot a 19.5# bird with 1.5" spurs and a 10.5", 7.5", and 4" beard. That bird was cut up and I mounted its fan to a really nice board, and cut off the feet...
I wish I'd known what a trophy I had at the time... that's a score of 93.5 good enough for 14 best in VA...
Really wish I had that bird stuffed ..read more

Hey guys, just moved to Colorado 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to get residencey and pick up an OTC tag so I can hunt turkey in April. I know absolutely nothing about where mountain turkey are (I hunt in Illinois). I'm just hoping someone can give me a GMU to try and pull an OTC for that's not too far (bout 2hrs) away from Denver area. Just to clarify I'm not looking for spots or trails etc etc. Just want to get out in the woods for a good time in the spring. But obviously if turkeys don't...

I know absolutely nothing about knife sharpening and I'm looking to touch some stuff up.
How good or bad does this sound? I can get a decent price on a new one.
I'm not sure what they mean by "flat blade knife"?
Thank you in advance.
