Ok. Hear me out on this as I am learning as I go.
So I have a Savage 111 (270 caliber) rifle. A few years ago, I wanted to upgrade my scope. So I went with a Leupold vx3 4.5-14 50mm. What I soon realized is this scope isn't working well with this rifle. Let me explain.
In order to get good eye relief, I need to move the scope farther back. The challenge I keep having is the tube isn't long enough to bring the rear of the scope close enough to get me full FOV. I tried using a picatinny rail but I still can't get that sucker back far enough back and still get clearance on the front bell.

The TexasBowhunter.com forum will be offline indefinitely this weekend as we perform maintenance and upgrades to the forum. There will likely be some significant changes (and possibly some hiccups) even after we bring it back online - hopefully sometime today.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding ..read more

Just saw this on Fox with a DPS Lt talking about the border issue. I think it’s a gensius idea to skirt around the Feds and “The Wall” on land. Seems to me it would be much cheaper and effective at keeping all the boats and floats on the side they departed from. Not sure how it will fare during floods but at least it’s something in my opinion ..read more

I found a nearly full gallon of trufuel today, but I have no idea how old it is. Best I can figure is 2018ish. My weed trimmer finally bit the dust and I outsourced our Lawncare to someone else. Probably best to dispose of it ..read more

Made it to 64-years old today. Just old enough at the time to remember when President Kennedy was shot. Watched the moon landing and the fall of Saigon. Along the way I survived a liver transplant, yanking out the gall bladder, cutting out the appendix, 3 or so broken bones, and knocked out 7 times that I remember. I've been stabbed, shot, and set on fire. And I have to wear a hat to keep my noggin from getting burnt up.
See. I'm starting to sound like an OLD MAN!
Got a year left before I start walking funny, smelling a little "off", mostly eating soft food, and scheduling monthly Doctor vis ..read more

We took a ride to the deer lease yesterday to check feeder batteries, and we had our 15-year-old daughter navigate with a paper map. :) It was an interesting and fun road trip. We plan on taking a longer trip this summer and do the same thing.

I got one chicken left that is good for laying AVG size eggs 1 to 2 times a day. If you need it she will come with a small coop that we kept 2-4 other chickens in and some extra stuff, feed and water bucket etc. Located in N DFW. Will need to be picked up. She is great for someone just getting started. She will b!+ch at you when she needs feed or wants to graze.
