So what does this mean for veteran NWT anglers and newcomers? For the most part, the average angler isn't involved in the back-end operations of tournaments and the fishing industry. Therefore most don't understand why certain things transpire the way they do. And that is perfectly normal as it's not the average Joe's job to be in the know of all things, but reading a press release in its entirety certainly helps minimize rumors that a typical knee-jerk reaction to a headline creates. So let me insert my two cents into this ,recent news. First off the National Walleye Tour (NWT) was not sold ..read more

"Whether you are going fishing for the first time this year or getting prepped for a tournament, having a game plan is a major factor in the success of your outing." As we transition into spring, many of us hit the tailraces below the dams along the Missouri River to get our open water fix while we are patiently awaiting the upper portions of the lakes to open up. Pheasant guiding in South Dakota. The pheasant haven of the US where thousands of upland hunters embark on their annual pheasant hunt every fall.  The sound of roosters cackling across the prairies and the skyline filtered with feathers as these beautiful birds move across the plains in search of food and safety. Growing up in Nebraska the hunt usually consisted of more Quail opportunities than Pheasant. However, the opportunities where there and success was had on almost eve ..read more

I get asked a lot about how I find active fish on a new body of water, especially one that you have never been to before. There are several things I do long before even leaving the house but the one thing I almost always do when I arrive at a new body of water is troll or cast crankbaits. Crankbaits are usually worked back to the boat at a fairly rapid speed and trolled at 1.5mph or faster making this a sure fire way to cover water quickly.   Like most everyone else I have a few baits that I prefer over others. I like to call those my confidence baits. What makes these my confidence bait ..read more
