Inland fishing has slowed this week with lower water levels at Berlin, but its still accessible, especially in the Northern part of the lake.  If you're heading to Berlin, target walleye in the Northern part of the lake trolling Flicker Shads/Flicker Minnows.  If you are targeting crappie, look for fish near the 224 bridge or the railroad trestle early morning and later in the evening.  Target those fish with jigs and Panfish Assassins.   Lake Erie continues to be excellent.  The only negative we are hearing is that the shorter fish are now in deeper water mixed i ..read more

The areas around the bridges on Greenbower and Rockhill have been far and above the most popular locations to fish this week.  Fish have been trapped in shallow pools in this area and many anglers from shore are reporting catches of good sized bluegill, crappie, and catfish.   Maggots, wax worms, and redworms have been the most popular baits for anglers targeting this area.  Most anglers are using small jigs under a float to target these fish.   With the rain we just received, we expect the other areas of the lakes to improve slightly, but we will need quite a bit ..read more

Lake Erie  -As usual, the walleye bite has been very good on Erie, from Cleveland to Ashtabula.  Bigger fish are being reported out of Ashtabula in deeper water, with Cleveland getting reports of 40-60 fish to get a 3-4 man limit as you will wade through quite a few short fish.  Both areas are doing very well on spoons, with Badmo Spoons being the more far and away more popular choice for our customers.  The most popular colors have been the Badmo spoons with multiple colored metallic backs, primarily orange, pink, and chartreuse.     Inland Lakes -Crappie ar ..read more

We did not get a bunch of activity this week with the smoky weather we have had, but we did hear a few things that has been consistent with the last week or two of fishing.   Lake Erie Lake Erie fishing continues to be excellent, but walleye size has varied by location, based on the reports we have gotten.   Lorain and Cleveland have both been great with Cleveland seeming to have smaller fish unless you venture to deeper water.  Ashtabula has produced some really nice fish in deeper water.  Almost all the reports we have gotten this week have been from anglers usi ..read more

Fishing has been consistent with the stable weather we have had with a few changes revolving around the moon phase early this week.   Crappie-  Crappie have been a little more difficult to get from shore as the fish have been moving a bit deeper, but can be found near structure and bridges.  Target fish about 8-15 feet of water with 1/16oz jigs and Panfish Assassins or Bobby Garland straight tail minnows.  Tip your jigs with maggots for better success.   Walleye-  On Berlin, trolling baits have been producing walleye consistently, but a few anglers are a ..read more

Walleye: The walleye are still biting in Berlin, generally fish are being caught in 3-10 FOW. Most reports are saying that the walleye are in and around the green willows and by the railroad trestle casting around points in the lake. The best luck is coming from ⅛ ounce jigs with 3” twister tails, live bait jigs with either nightcrawlers or leeches, #5 Flicker Shads, and Rippin’ Rap 5s.  Crappie: With the weather keeping on getting better and better the crappie bite is following it. Reports of good numbers of fishing being caught are coming in all the time. The best luck is coming from a ..read more

Fishing has been great this week with successful reports coming from multiple bodies of water.  Our cover photo this week is Landon Mathes with a walleye he caught on Berlin Trolling Crawler Harnesses in 10 FOW.  Pretty work Landon!  White Bass-  The white bass run is in full swing.  Anglers are reporting catching fish from as far North as Price Street/Greenbower area to as far South as the Mahoning River Dam.  With the rain coming Friday night, Saturday and Sunday should be an excellent time to pinpoint some bigger fish as the females should be headed into the ri ..read more

White Bass- They are up in the river! People are catching them all over the place in the Mahoning downstream from the dam. The weather has not been the greatest but the guys that have been out pushing through it have caught fish. They report using 2” Twister Tails(Junebug, Pink, Black, Chartreuse), Rooster Tails(Black, Pink, Gold), and on Panfish Assassins(Pink, Black). With the weather warming up the spots will be filling up so get out there and fish if you can because before you know it the run will be over.  Crappie- With the weather improving and warming up finally, we expect crappie ..read more
