Hiking and Backpacking with a CPAP Machine
Topping up the battery with the bright Greenland sunshineFor those of us that have Sleep Apnoea, life is a little different, namely, we use a CPAP machine overnight to help us breathe normally. Obviously, if your condition is due to weight then, of course, that is an issue to work on, but not...

Another beautiful weekend for hiking, hunting, and caving. Weather was perfect for the entirety of the trip. Not a lot of morels foraged, but enough to compliment last years deer for a meal.
The new bedroll sleeve from Self Reliance is better than expected. Highly recommend giving them a try, very comfortable and durable ..read more

I had a jansport pack that I dearly loved, it was coming apart at the seams after several years of daily use. I took it on one last adventure to Puerto Rico and retired it. I then got a replacement pack that just wasn't the same. I am determined to grow to love my new pack so I fully intend to begin using it this weekend on a hiking trip. I have also consider a chest pack in addition to my backpack but never liked the idea of the harness under the backpack. So I ordered a cheap chest pack...

I went snowmobiling yesterday and noticed everyone wore radios. When I asked my guide if that was just to communicate with friends, they said it was also for emergencies. It surprised me because of all the mountains and valleys in that area, so line-of-sight must be horrible, but they must know what they are doing.
I’m guessing that’s partly because cell service isn’t available in that area. That got me thinking it might not be a bad idea to hike/backpack in that area. I’m not interested in...

When on an overnighter, caveman TV (campfire) only goes so far as something to do. What items do you bring for things to do and morale items for yourself and others during slower times?
Things I’ve thought of so far: deck of cards, dice, book, journal, Rubik’s cube, yo-yo, juggling balls…
Anything you can think of or do bring ..read more

Anyone got any suggestions for some trails to check out in Minnesota? I'm a novice at actual backpacking but I'd like to find something that'd be a good day hike or overnight trail. Most common reply I've gotten when asking around is "It's Minnesota they're all over!" Golly Gee WIllickers ya don't say lol. So if you're willing to give some trail names, details locations and pointers I would absolutely love to get some adventure time in this summer. Thank you! I appreciate you all greatly ..read more

The purchase of a folding kayak (see thread in General Bushcraft Discussions) has got me looking at used Kelty packs. I see some are listed with a frame size, usually 3 or 4. Can anyone tell me what the sizes reference? I couldn’t find any info on the Kelty website. Thanks ..read more

I have noticed that several packs offer the option to roll the top of the backpack and either clip the buckles up top like a dry bag, or down on the sides of the pack for vertical compression. I have also seen some experienced backpackers clip the top together before rolling and then secure the top strap over everything. I'm sure all 3 ways work just fine, I just thought it might be fun to see what everyone else is doing and why ..read more
