My elderly parents live in greater London, yet have terrible broadband available (10-16mbps max, with no plans to improve!)
After a lot of reading on this site I bought them a Zyxel NR5103E router from CEX.
I have them on an EE MVNO with the router achieving over 200mbps. They are living in a flat. I located the router near the window and TV. I told them to make sure they were happy with it for a couple of weeks before cancelling the broadband. They were apparently happy and cancelled...

It's fact that all mobile providers have black-spots and no-one is offering 100% coverage. You might have managed to get one and have excellent coverage at home, but then going on a trip, find a nice place to eat/sleep, just to realize that your family can't reach you in case of an emergency. Yes you can ask for wifi, but that's not the case. i want to be reachable, without relying to wifi. It's 2025, 5G and it's benefits.

With Now TV I have Broadband and PSTN phone line.
I have been anticipating that I will go down the VOIP route (with Andrews & Arnold) once my CF Broadband is up and running.
However, it has just dawned on me that there might be an issue regarding the VOIP option as my CF Internet will be CG-NAT.
I assume any VOIP set-up I have would be using my old DECT phones and a Grandstream HT-801 ATA

I was looking over mastdatabase and I am seeing a whole list entries all over Newcastle from Openreach all saying the following for them all
"Access to BT boxes/Manholes to recover redundant cables and clear duct space, rolling works with no excavation"
I was just curious. Does this mean they are removing all of the old copper cables and leaving only Fibre cables in these ducts? Does this truly mean every single person has now upgraded to FTTP in these regions in Newcastle that they...

Hey folks. Just wanted to share some learnings from my attempts at shifting away from Virgin Media due to ridiculous renewal quotes and moving to a 5G connection. There were unlimited deals at £16 going for three the other week.
Honestly has been a mixed bag for me.
Mostly making this thread for folks to find on the net if they embark upon the same path.
It started when I found that my Oppo Reno 8 could get about 200mb down and 10mb up in the garden with a signal around -99db. (Could get...
