Which providers will let me keep my home phone?

Coming to the end of a Plusnet broadband contract, I'm on a bit of a learning curve about VoIP, full fibre and who does what.  I understand that if Plusnet installs full fibre, they disconnect my home phone, but I'm nervous of losing it.  I never phone out, but a couple of people ring me on it because it would be expensive to call my mobile.  There isn't a price advantage in abandoning the home phone, so I would like to keep the number and take incoming calls through VoIP.  I think (from checking the MSE comparison page) that Virgin and Vodafone offer such deals.  Are ..read more

Hi all, my contract with Shell Energy Broadband expires on 12th June, but in the contract it says that even after the minimum period I must give 30 days notice to cancel. Does this mean I'm tied in to the higher charge for at least 1 month after starting a switch to a new supplier? or is it possble to give them 30 days notice 30 days before the contract ends and arrange a switch for that date or veyr soon thereafter ..read more

In a very small French village we have been offered FTTC fibre. In the UK, in a major city, on a main road, we’re still waiting to hear if Open Reach can provide it. Meanwhile, our broadband speeds get slower and slower as different providers keep swapping the cables in the nearest cabinet. Progress huh ..read more

Full fibre installation delayed, old services now disconnected

We are now without Internet connection or landline after the delayed fibre installation yesterday. The OpenReach engineer turned up late without the necessary equipqment required to complete the job. They are now tell us that we will be without broadband or phone until next Tuesday (6 days). What rights do I have in this situation? My gut tells me to follow the money and only complain to the new provider (OneStream). The equipment the engineer needed was entirely foreseeable so OpenReach are principally at fault for this failure. The new provider told the old providers to cease the services so ..read more

Is that possible I spoke to bt yesterday and was offered bb £27.66. When told could get cheaper with Vodafone, he went and talked to his manager and said  I could have the first month subscription free. I was going to recontract for 24 months but changed my mind as he told me I could just put the phone line to my hub and it does not have one. Got confused and told him I do not wish to recontract. After doing some research and find out I will be sent a smart hub 2 I phoned to accept the deal. Was told there was no mention of 1 month free subscription on the system. Asked the guy to listen ..read more

We live in a small block of flats built in 2004  We currently have a broadband Fibre 2 package with BT plus BT TV including a shed load of sports stuff that the OH can't live without.  We have a tv box and BT hub modem. The BT hub is plugged into the BT socket (we don't have a land line) and the line runs to the block via an underground channel and then internally (I assume through conduits within the building) to the flat.  If I check my postcode for ultrafast broadband it says it will be available here around the end of June ( workmen have been busy in the street and they tell ..read more

A week or two after converting to Fibre 2, there is still no message on 'My BT' regarding offering me a bag to return the old router. I phoned BT customer services, and was told to recycle the old router and not return it to them. Does anybody have recent experience regarding being charged for old equipment after being told to recycle it instead of returning? I'm cynically thinking they will charge me in the hope I won't notice ..read more
