I'm looking to improve the wi-fi coverage in our home but am a little confused at the number on 'models' that are available. I like the look of the TP-link systems as they appear easy to connect to our Vodafone router which is in an upstairs (first floor) bedroom/office.
The house is a traditional four bedroomed detached house with a conservatory adjoining the rear of the property. That's where we get the poorest signal. We've tried the plug in extenders which did not work as we have three ring mains.
I'm hoping that someone here could suggest which of the TP-link systems would be our best cho ..read more

I know there is a modem type thing inside and the box outised I assume they will drill on the wall where the master socket is which is our hallway. How many plug sockets does this require? WE have a pip lower to the ground for gas on the outside of that wall, will that be any issue? I'd like it as tidy as possible if we can ask them to. oes the isie one have to low or can it be up higher which is our preferance, we'd like it more near the master socket ..read more

FTTP is now available to us so I was wondering what the reviews are for the usual providers before switching. We are currently on PlusNet for slow broadband.
Thanks.

After being a Virgin Media customer for over twenty years, I finally decided to switch to Youfibre and having it installed next week.
Since we haven't had a BT line since the 90s, we no longer even have a connection to the pole, so I imagine they do that first, I thought this had to be done separately by BT/Openreach rather than the Youfibre installers, though was told everything is happening on the same day, anyone able to confirm please?
It's the actual installation in and outside the house I'm wondering about too. Reading some general info I believe there is a box installed outside the ho ..read more

We've got an engineer here to do our FTTP installation. He clearly wants to do a quick 'in & out' job. He wants to put the new router right by the entry point, so he's insisting that we ditch our Ethernet connections (which won't reach) and connect everything via wifi. I've told him that wifi is no good as it won't reach our TV or xbox reliably. He won't have it, and he's trying to convince us that as we are now on 'superfast cable' our wifi will miraculously improve and reach all over the house!
I've told him that's nonsense and that all our wifi channels are crowded and that's why I need ..read more

When the engineer comes to install the FTTP, do they remove the phone socket from the wall indoors that will no longer be needed and just use the hole that is behind that socket instead of having to drill another hole ..read more

Anyone have any experience with Community Fibre?
My Now broadband special offer has ended after two years, going from £23.50 to £46.50/month for FTTC with anytime calls on a rolling contract. Now's new offer is £32/month on an 18 month contract. Currently connected at 70Mbps down, 11Mbps up. I can get Community Fibre FTTP 150Mbps symmetrical with anytime calls for £31/month on a 24 month contract.
With a new FTTP installation is the existing line, from a street pole to the house, and the openreach master socket ripped out or left in place in case I want to go back to FTTC ..read more
