Hi Dane,
I’ve talked with some members of the city council and the city manager here in Lawndale, 90260. Just over from Redondo Beach.
These were brief chats in passing - but it sounds like there maybe is some progress on using the poles? But maybe discussions ongoing about how the drops have to be made?
Any more insight or perspectives would be most welcome.

So, Amazon seems to be better these days, but got a power outage the other day and now Netflix is blocking content to my IP address. Their support is completely unhelpful, even worse than Amazon - just repeating over and over that the ISP has to fix it. I'm so tired of this. I wish we could figure out what third party services are in use to flag this stuff to get the IPs cleared with them. Anyone have any ideas?

I think that a managed switch will simply relay the DHCP request from the router to ONT in the configuration that I've described and using port isolation. I'm thinking the switch doesn't make any requests on it's own, so it would be limited to the one source making the request. If the ONT isn't actively searching out MAC addresses than I think this configuration should work and add the redundancy and speed advantages.

As a older white male working in the tech industry... I have used the terms white/black list, master/slave, etc for years.
I have had zero issues converting to non-charged terminology without getting my undies in a twist.
Good on you Dane.

When we do have estimated dates, you'll find them in the Fiber Status section of the
What would be more helpful is something more granular than: “Pre-Construction”. Redondo Beach has been in that phase for almost a year. If there is no way to know that anything is even happening at all, it is basically useless (and very frustrating).

Even with Rapid Commit being enabled and/or requesting the prefix over IPv4, I still had flakiness. I guess Rapid Commit or requesting the prefix over IPv4 just causes the non-ONT RA to come first more often. It seems this is just a race condition that I was mostly, but not completely winning.
pfSense has hidden rules for accepting RAs. It is not possible to block RAs in the Firewall Rules UI. Blocking the RA requires a rule be added very early before the rule to accept all RAs. I ended up creating a one-liner patch to block the RAs from AdTran ONTs and used the System Patches package to app ..read more

I'm surprised the City Attorney in those jurisdictions isn't explaining the facts of 21st civil code life to them, especially after legal process!

That's great news @jerrielm! Hopefully nothing unexpected crops up between now and then (and I understand that is out of your control).
