Although we are thrilled for those who received positive results last week, we are mindful of those who are not celebrating yet.  If that applies to you, please know first that this score does NOT define you or your ability to have a successful career!  More tremendously successful lawyers than we can count did not pass on their first CA Bar Exam attempt, including a previous Dean of Stanford Law.  Even bar graders are permitted not to have passed once. If you plan to take the February 2022 exam and graduated from McGeorge, we encourage you to participate in the free Extra ..read more

We’re almost there!!  As you begin your final preparations, remember that you don’t need to know everything; you just need to know enough.  In fact it’s impossible to know everything testable on the bar…but if you have taken this process seriously from the beginning; followed most of your commercial course schedule; practiced and reviewed at least 45-50 timed essays, 5-6 timed PTs, and 2000 MBEs; self-assessed to improve and took advantage of opportunities for outside feedback; and truly engaged with the material (rather than blowing through tasks just to check them off a list), you ..read more

If you’re feeling anxious, welcome to the club! Nervousness and some anxiety around this time are very normal for bar applicants. If you weren’t nervous at all, that might be cause for concern! Try to use those butterflies in your stomach to your advantage: visualize your nervousness turning into energy, funneling down your arms to your keyboard or pen, keeping you awake and alert throughout the exam. If your anxiety has a less desirable outcome, such as causing your mind to go blank when it’s time to start outlining your answer, there might be something else you can do. On ..read more

The State Bar added a couple of updates to the FAQs this week related to the release of version 2.7.4 of Examplify. See Question 3 under Format of the Exam (pp. 2-3), and Question 1 under Technological Requirements (pp. 4-7). Hopefully all July 2021 bar applicants have completed the required mock exams already. (If not, the deadline is TODAY.) If so, the State strongly encourages completion of optional Mock Exam 4 so you can confirm that your laptop is compliant with the new version of Examplify. For more information, see your latest email from the State Bar (sent this morning), the State Bar ..read more
