I can’t believe it’s been two years already since I’ve published the second book in my Sheltering Trees series, Under the Weeping Willow. Of all of the books I have written, this one was the most alive while I was writing it. The setting, being right around our country block from our place, and the things the main characters deal with are close to home and my heart.
It also has the most alive cover. The picture was taken by my brother-in-law at a farm nearby, where I imagined the story to be set, and the model is my niece. It was fun to see my vision for the book cover come together before my ..read more

Happy middle of the week. I have a few fun things to share pertaining to Under the Weeping Willow, my upcoming novel.
First, did you know my book, In a Grove of Maples, has it’s own candle? Well, it does, and it smells sooooo fallishly delicious!!
From the Page candles works with authors to craft a candle reminiscent of their book. My candle has notes of amber, smoke, leaves, and maple. Every time I burnt it I want to make pancakes, topped with maple syrup.

At its core, Under the Weeping Willow is about a mother and a daughter and the secret shaping their rocky relationship.
Inspiration:
My first inspiration and challenge for writing Under the Weeping Willow sprung from a question: what would it be like, as a daughter, to have a strained relationship with my mother? And what would be the driving force behind it? My imagination and my college courses in psychology helped me out here. Having a very close relationship with my mom, I didn’t have experience to draw from but created a scenario where a strained mother/daughter relationship was a ..read more

PICTURED: ANNEE’S LATEST OR UPCOMING RELEASES
I’d like to extend a warm welcome to inspirational romance author, Annee Jones. I happily connected with Annee recently on Facebook and invited her to take part in an author party I hosted this spring in my Facebook group, Journeying With Jenny. She has published both traditionally and independently.

Do you enjoy reading epistolary novels that are written, in part, through diary entries or letters? If so, you’ll enjoy my upcoming novel, In a Grove of Maples. One of my main characters, Beryl Massart, keeps a diary. Each chapter opens with a diary entry of hers dated from the future, so readers get a taste for what is ahead in the story and keeps them turning the pages. That’s the goal, anyway!
Keeping a journal has been of great importance to me over the years, so I chose to include that in many of my characters’ lives in my novels. Writing my thoughts down has helped me through many a ro ..read more

I grew up on the farm I wrote about in my upcoming novel, In a Grove of Maples. From the 1890’s, during the decades I grew up in, and the current time a lot has changed but yet a few things remain the same. The basic structure of the log cabin stands at the heart of the framed house built around it. The bare logs can still be seen when entering the house. My brother told me that logs were from trees that had toppled and burned in the Peshtigo fire.
The old outhouse squats in the same place, and the red hand water pump rises from the same spot. The barn my grandfather built to replace th ..read more

Do you ever wonder where authors come up with book titles or the name of series? Let me tell you how the series title, Sheltering Trees, came to me.
It took a while to come up with the series name. First I thought of something in relation to my home state of Wisconsin, where the books are set, but I couldn’t settle on anything. Then my mind lit on the idea of using prepositional phrases as book titles. I liked that!
From there, I wrote down possible names. I thought of trees and how I have associated them with shelter, and the name Sheltering Trees sprang from ..read more
