Hi all I could not find a forum for general travelling, so please bear with me if this post is misdirected. My wife and I will be travelling south from Hluhluwe end of June 2024, returning to Mossel Bay (towing my Comfortvan). I'd like to go via the KZN south coast, but from there it seems the N2 to PE is a no-go. Is it still worthwhile to travel via Kokstad and from there to Cradock (or Middelburg), or is this also not a good idea? If it is still okay, which route is best? I will also need to do at least one stop-over more or less halfway between Port Shepstone and Mossel Bay. Any recommend ..read more

Hi all. My friend and I (two guys in our 50s now ;)) were doing some humanitarian work as students in Lusaka and Nangoma, Zambia 30 years ago. Tried then to enter Zimbabwe but it was not possible so we made a tour through Malawi, Tanzania to Zanzibar and back. During 3 months of stay in Zambia we also traveled to most interesting parts using 4X4 vehicles, also did some off-roading through the parks. Now 30 years later it's time to visit the southern parts of Africa as we wanted to years ago. Hi everyone We are planning a Kgalagadi trip this June and would like a few advice from the regulars! Firstly, we are going with a 4motion amarok with michelin primacy suv 255/60/18s on. I have read highway tyres perform surprisingly well on sand if deflated correctly. Will we manage the road to gharagab and back? Since it's a 4x4 only track Secondly what is the night temps like? Assuming its gonna be lekker cold. How often do the lions come to chow on the tyres in the wilderness camps and how can I prevent this. Hello 4x4 community friends. We're almost starting a month long trip that will bring us from Angola to Victoria Falls and Okavango Delta and back. There is only one thing I couldn't yet figure out, even surfing in this forum: insurance. We're driving an 2020 Suzuki Jimny registered in Angola, with normal 3rd party insurance valid in Angola until 2025. The insurers we contacted in Angola don't have coverage for border countries or other kind of international insurance. Good day all, The last 7 odd months has felt like two years with all that has happened in our lives. It has also been a while since I have gone through what has been happening on the 4x4 Community.
