Box Truck?

Well this was an interesting one I saw, and it got me thinking. I’m currently running a ranger with a topper on it. And the whole thing is a bit too small for me. I saw a guy with an old 14ft uhaul truck he converted into a living quarters. He told me he’s done some light overlanding, but because it’s 2wd, he doesn’t push it. But it got me thinking, I know the gm vans are able to be converted from 2wd to 4wd, pretty easily actually. And I was thinking of buying an old 10ft box truck similar to the ones uhaul uses. It’s not a dually, it’s not every long, and I know I can fabricate the rear bum ..read more

Hitch basket propane storage

Hello all I'm thinking of switching away from the 1lb throw aways and going to a 10lb propane tank for both cooking and a fire pit. I only have room for a single 10lb tank on the hitch basket I have. 1) Does anyone see issues with safety and putting propane secured to a hitch basket? I mostly see them externally on either the roof or bolted to the outside. 2) Any creative mounting solutions for the 10lb size? I know for example with the 20lb you can put in a milk crate and secure that all down. But for the 10lb all I can see are the expensive mounts. submitted by /u/Jeepncj7 [visit reddit ..read more

Cab to box access door?

I took out my rear seats to do some cleaning and properly route wires, and I thought to my self it'd be super convenient if I had box access from the cab. I have a cap on it and often find myself having to empty half of it to reach stuff up front or awkwardly climb over stuff. looking to see if anyone's done something like this, any advice or ideas? I'm not worried about resale of the truck, it's a 98 f150 3 door. I'm also able to fabricate/weld whatever needed. submitted by /u/parralelluniverses [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi All I’m seeking advice as I start out on the evaluation of my current utility trailer and it’s ability to become an over landing trailer. My goal is to build something that can sustain long highway trips. Navigate on maintained public roads can fit and hold a dual sport bike and have the ability to mount a rooftop tent up top lastly, it be great to be able to mount and load kayaks either on top of the rooftop tent or somehow on the trailer. Pictures are from about 10 years ago when I brought the trailer home, stripped it down put new wheels and lights on it and replaced plywood. Plywoo ..read more

How “hard” did you go when starting out?

Quick preface- I grew up racing dirt bikes, rock climbing, mtbing, and more pertinently for this post- backpacking. I LOVE IT; My wife doesn’t. She gravel bikes and indoor climbs. She day hikes a little. She doesn’t like to ‘suffer’ (her words). I’ve been interested in overlanding for about a year. About 3 weeks ago I was watching Revere Overland on YT and she asked what it was. Long story short- she’s actually really into it and we’ve watched a lot of YT stuff from the big names all the way down to dudes with a GoPro and 100 followers just roaming around in a truck. She’s given me the green ..read more
