After being part of the Chigger buffet last weekend I started researching insect repellents for gear and clothes specifically.  After spending more time than I care to admit researching various brands and products I settled on a repellent that works on Chiggers amongst other things.  I found Sawyer Products SP618 on Amazon and ordered some. I am going to spray the ? out of my my tent, shoes and clothes this week before next weekends trip.   It may or may not work but I am gonna give a swing and see what happens ..read more

ICECO Fridge & Jackery 300- Testing & Results

I purchased the 12 volt 32 Liter ICECO JP30 and the  Jackery 300. The ICECO came with an insulated cover, 12 volt power cable, 12 volt cable extender and a power cable for home use. The size seems just about right for my use case. I am usually  solo(No wife) when camping and do not bring a ton of stuff anyway so I can make it work.     I have been doing some testing over the last few days and this is what I have found. I have the temperature set at 39. The fridge stays between 35 & 41 degrees consistently. That's a win. The draw when the fridge is plugged int ..read more

ICECO Fridge

I am kicking around the idea of getting a 12 volt fridge, the ice chest and ice is becoming a PITA. I found this 32 Liter ICECO JP30 on the Overlords website. The size seems right for my use, I am usually  solo when camping and do not bring a ton of cold food.  My thinking is to run it off the Jeep during the day. Then when at camp run it off a power station, that power station could be recharged off  the Jeep during the day.  I am wondering if a Jackery 300 would do the trick. I am borderline dumb when come to the watts and draw and yada, yada , yada so any advice is welco ..read more

Coleman OneSource Rechargeable Camping Lights

Wanted to share a nifty little purchase I made and got to use on the recent Rug Road overland adventure. I stumbled across these Coleman OneSource Rechargeable Camping Lights while surfing the Amazon and figured they'd make for some nice area and ambient lighting. I picked up my set for $80 from the 'Zon.   The OneSource concept is pretty neat - basically Coleman is making a rechargeable "core battery" with significant capacity. The battery can be hot swapped to a range of Coleman products, such as these LED string lights, 3 different styles of lantern, 2 different flashlights, a nifty ca ..read more

Installing ICECO fridge slide in the back of our Jeep JL using Goose Gear Plate System

We were trying to figure out the best way to install the ICECO Fridge Slide to the back of our Jeep JL. Goose Gear Rear Plate System without the seat delete seems to be the best option with the least amount of work. We measured and drilled holes to install the wood inserts similar to the existing Goose Gear mounting holes for their system, but sized to work better with the ICECO Fridge Slide. It all worked out quite well, except the remaining rubber mat we left from the Mopar Cargo Tray added an extra thickness to the back passenger seats, and prevented the fridge slide to fully lock in place ..read more

some random info on propane powered campfires...     Camp Chef   @Lichen has been ever so kind as to bring his propane powered campfire a few times for us during fire bans or when it was otherwise difficult to have a wood campfire, i think it is the Camp Chef portable campfire:       Camco   there's also this similar Camco one - both have fold-up legs and are pretty similar except the Camp Chef has the adjuster next to the fire instead of at the regulator on the hose and has a slightly lower BTU rating.       QuickFire   i ..read more
