I got a full size CVT Shasta with extended fly and an annex room. Its great for when i have family members or friends out and we are just camping and hiking. But for my solo or group run to actually offroad. I don't like the weight and how high up it sits on my Mojave. I'm fairly rugged (young AF), and i prefer to hammock camp anyway as RTT mattress just suck for my bony ass. The issue being there isn't always a tree and I'd like a quicker tarp setup. Question, if Jeep thinks it's ok to add that little aux battery connected directly to the main battery, then why couldn't I extend heavy cables to the rear and just replace the aux battery with a full size one? Not lithium of course but a deep cycle agm. Even add an isolator like the old days so it doesn't drain the main when the engine is off. Going to be while until done but , I am putting a 100watt solar panel on roof of my RSI cap, with Zamp controller to supply my Genesis dual battery house battery. With a lot of support from member Chorky here helped me down the path and we studied my loads and time and the AGM battery 64AH will power my ARB Elements fridge plant long for my use. I am looking for any options that exist to build out a roof platform with detachable seats. Since this week has some nice sunny 50 degree days for several days, I decided to open up the tent on Sunday. My worst fears were realized. Longish post - sorry, quite depressed and frustrated. So, upon opening the tent - it was soaked. Completely drenched to the bone. All of the fabric. The interior had a couple small standing puddles, like 2" in diameter or so.
